WTB: Cargo Van/Track Bike Transport

Looking at purchasing a cargo van or some sort of vehicle to get my track bike from point A to B. Prefer a van of some sort to also double as sleeping space for overnight track weekends.

What concerns me is when a vehicle has a lot of new parts and issues fixed, is that an indicator that the parts that didn't get replaced will be going out soon?

 

Having to replace the pump / injectors is common with diesels after the switch to ultra low sulfur diesel which doesn't have the same lubrication properties.

 

$1800 for 7.3. If that we're anywhere near me when I was looking Id have checked it out for sure.
7.3 was good motor.

I ended up with a 2006 Chevy van with a duramax and it's a great bike hauler.

Yeah I know nothing about that van other than finding the craigslist ad. I myself bought a 7.3 e-350 last year and spent quite a bit more so it might be worth checking out for the guy looking to pick up a van. My van has been great so far, no complaints. The diesel gets decent fuel mileage and if I ever decide to pull a trailer I imagine I won't see a huge hit in mileage like you would with the gas engines.

 

There probably wont be another deal like the one i got a year and half ago.

I'm guessing that is a gas van though. When I was searching the gas vans were always significantly cheaper than diesels. Also mileage seems to be less of an issue of the Diesel engines. Just my opinion though.

I'd be willing to sell my 1997 E350 V10. Unlike any van you typically see... 15 passenger refinished to haul bikes and has a 6" lift. Tons of custom stuff. Runs great and has been awesome - I am just thinking of a newer model... 120k miles and has a new exhaust from downpipe back, new brake lines, new plugs at 110k and K&N with an SCT Tuner.

Get one like this: (for those of us who are old enough to remember)

 

A 2007+ with a diesel motor , 12-15 passenger, finished interior, will be at least $10k, probably closer to $12k and up.
My van had monthly service at a Ford dealer. Not a speck of rust on the body or frame.
My van booked for a little over $9k when I bought it late 2012.

Just went to Jennings from Ohio, 80mph all the way, up and down hills, pulls, rides, runs great. 5.4 L. Don't be afraid of a gasser, and the V10 is a beast and doesn't get much worse mileage than the 5.4. You ever see the guy with the 1,000,000 van? http://www.millionmilevan.com/

The same place I bought this van will be selling 2010/2011's next year for the same price., $2k. I actually called the guy this weekend to see if he had any for sale prematurely.

I have $4500 in this setup. The 2007 E-250 van and 2013 Homesteader 6x12 v-nose.

When I picked mine up, the guy said 'See those over there, they'll be for sale in 3 yrs for the same price, $2000'. He was pointing at a fleet of '12's and '13's.

It's been a year and half so far. I'll buy every one he has for $2k.

 

Why are they so cheap? Are they in need of serious repair?

 

Written off fleet vehicles I assume...
