been perusing the posts and want to say Hello! Everyone here seems very supportive and encouraging! Had a couple of questions for a first time rider-- 1. Do I need tire warmers? (temp will be in the 60s) 2. What lap times should I shoot for? 3. Will there be instruction @ the track (other than ride right!)? 4. Should I be ready to move up to advanced after the morning session? 5. Will there be racers there to judge if I should race or not next season? I want first of all to be SAFE! and to be fast within my abilities. Sorry if my questions are newbish (is that a word?) Thanks again guys!:first:
Forget about every question there and just show up.... Register.... and Listen to your Coach's... Don't over think it .... Have fun.... I will have a cold Beer with your name on it.. Marc
My first track day was Road ATL two years ago, about the same time of year. 1. What tires? If you need warmers you'd know. 2. None. 3. Yes plenty of top-notch coaches. 4. Nope. 5. Might be. You won't be ready. Just have fun. RoadATL is a blast.
Pin it to win it. The trackday trophy is on the line ya know. Being that it's Halloween weekend all the top MotoAmerica scouting teams will be there for the annual spook fest test and looking for spookingly fast talent to sign for next year!! Go get em boss!!
I am running Dunlop K449s- as I look at the lows, I am thinking Yes on the Tws- Forgive my enthusiasm- I am sure there are some who are not believing this post- bt I just want to go fast. on the track and not the street. no trolls here. I will be there ready to listen and learn. Thanks for the info. I look forward to Halloween- Just got lucky with a scratch off and went for the safest bike I could get with (electronics package and all). hope I didn't offend anyone. just ANXIOUS! Cant friggin sleep!
This is great advice. I showed up with thoughts somewhat similar to the OP a season ago...and went home with a crashed bike. Just have fun man, the coaches here are top notch so listen and relax. Its all about having fun while also taking a shiny bike home so you can look forward to the next track day.
beer @5 received! I will have a 12 pack on ice- thanks again for the advice... I should just show up first...
Just look for a 10 x 15 and a 10 X 10 BLACK Ez up at Pit out by the middle buildings... Or just ask for Marc.. Looking forward to it...:thumb:
Have fun and keep the rubber side down. Listen to the instructors and do what is asked and it will help a lot. Yamaha has the team set for next year so be patient :sorry:
