OH, in that case. Yes I only use the front brake, have been working on last minute application with maximum braking to make the corner speed needed. (that's on the long stretch at Putnam) Heavy front braking makes the rear brake just about useless IMO.
When you see God. Or just a little after. If it doesn't work out, remember to not walk into the light.
Only in the grass should one ever apply the front brake! Besides that, no brakes or rear to slide in the corners
Ah, now were talkin'. I don't use the rear brake a lot, but some of the obvious times are as stated.....about to run off track and into the grass/gravel/sand/whatever. Another very useful time to use the rear brake is to tighten up a line in a corner. The folks that are more skilled than I, will use them to induce a slide into a corner.
When I first started doing track days I found myself using the rear brake because I come from a motocross background but now (after much track riding) I pretty much never touch it unless the entry of a corner is particularly rough or bumpy and even in that case it's just a light drag to assist engine braking. In the dirt, dragging front or rear brakes in rough entries and exits of turns helps to settle the chassis but again, light dragging of the brakes only!
I adhere to the above post...I sometimes use it to settle the chassis in bumpy corners. Just a note... I have a CBXX w/linked brakes. The conversion to unlinked brakes was one of the best mods I ever made to it (It's a street ride). I run a R6 on the track.
