I have a video up on YouTube from Sunday, October 30th. I believe it is session 6, the last of the day for me, I cut out one session early to get my bum back to Wisconsin! It is the Advanced group. This was my first time to Road Atlanta. Likely will not be the last! If interested I am riding a 2006 Honda CBR1000RR. Enjoy!
Great video. Could you provide info on the garmin and track map overlay? I am interested in duplicating this recording option. Than ks
It is the Garmin VIRB Ultra 30. It has a built in GPS among other sensors. As it is recording video it is also recording data to another file. This data can then be overlaid in the video using their VIRB edit software. It's pretty easy to use though I had issues with the data files when I transferred the video off of the memory card. Namely, I lost track of where it went and therefore lost just the data portion for most of the video I have, with the exception of this video of course. I bought this camera specifically because of the data overlay and now that I have the hang of it I really like it. For the same money as the new GoPro you have this additional data that is really useful, especially for what we do. They also make other less expensive VIRB cameras but the GPS on those updates at 1hz opposed to 10hz on the Ultra 30. Now that I have the Ultra 30 though I plan to get one of the cheaper ones for the rear view. Another cool feature of these cameras is that when you shoot with two of them you can sync them and display a split view. HTH
Thanks for the info. I noticed a significant difference from the speedo and the garmin MPH. Is that due to a sprocket conversion/change or the GPS?
Tim is correct. The new bikes with tc/abs rings are closer but I was still hitting 184mph on my bike speedometer and 175 mph on the gps timer on my bike on the back straight at road Atlanta. I am riding the 2015. BMW s1000rr
Great video, do you have any videos from Saturday? I am looking to see if anyone has a video with my kid on it. He only rode on Saturday, black and gold R6.
Bike has non stock sprockets so the GPS is the correct one. GPS is correct, speedo is off because of gearing.
Okay, I'm editing a video from Saturday right now. Hopefully it will be up later tonight. If he is a fast guy, you'll likely see him passing me at some point. If he's a slow guy you'll likely see me passing him.
No. I'm out of vacation so 10+ hour trips to go to the track are over until next year. It's going to be a long cold winter.
