Do you all have any recommendations for a flash tune on an 07 GSX-R600? I plan on keeping the engine stock as long as possible, but I have replaced the cat and can with an Arrow Thunder and midpipe. I've heard both vcyclenut and Ivan are top flash tuners, but neither currently have a flash tune for my particular bike. At this point I'm looking at FTECU (particularly because the tune includes adjustments for a plug-and-play quick shifter they also sell) and North Texas Superbikes because it's half the price and re-tunes are included with the price if any adjustments are needed down the road. With a North Texas tune, though, I'd likely be going with an Annitori qs, or other stand-alone. Solid plan? Any other recommendations? thanks in advance
Not many offerings for your bike unfortunately. You should chat with Anthony of Bauce Racing. Stand up guy with tons of knowledge.
Bauce did my buddies 07 GSXR7 and was limited on what could be done. There were some restrictions removals but it wasn't as much as can be done with newer machines. He did a great job though.
I got my ECU flashed by Dano's Performance after I installed a full exhaust system. I've since put on a full Bazzaz ZFiTC but initially just wanted to make sure the bike would be okay with the exhaust. Of course the flash also unlocks some other benefits. It won't be as good as a dyno tune, but is a cost effective way to "get close". http://www.danosperformance.com/ECU Flashing.htm If there's something you DON'T want him to include, just communicate that. For example I didn't have him disable the O2 sensor or the steering damper at the time.
Great link which explains the changes made in the flash. It proves my point with regards to the limited amount of changes to the 06/07 bikes vs. the newer machines. Still worth it though IMO.
I'd be happy paying the cash just to get the snatchiness from closed to open throttle and back out of it. In the wet it's...scary haha.
It shouldn't be that bad off/on throttle unless something is out of wack. Has it been tuned? I've raced both an 06 and 07 750 and had not throttle transition issues in the dry or wet. I didn't have those flashed, just had Bazzaz on them with custom dyno tunes done. Same can be done with a PCV. Most of it is having a good tuner do the dyno work and also check the bike out to see if there is another problem causing it.
It hasn't had any engine work or tuning completed on it. I put an R6 throttle tube on her within the past month, but the twitchiness preceded that. I only notice it from closed to open and back at low rpm, not from a braking to neutral or accelerating throttle in normal conditions, but she jumps pretty good when the throttle's cracked open while taking it easy in the wet, for example.
Pulled from link above: Suzuki GSXR 600 and GSXR 750 -(2006-07) ($85.00 + shipping) Optimize fuel curves across all gears (similar to a Power Commander) Optimize ignition curves across all gears (Remove gear based ignition timing restrictions) Reset radiator fan turn on/off temperature (205/195) Raise RPM limiter Disable O2 sensor Disable top speed limiter Can a PC-V do all of these?
You should give Turn One Racing a call. He was a trackside vender for STT last year, and he uses Woolrich flash, which us widely regarded as a top company for GSXR community. He can get your flash done with dyno time to make it perfect, and let you know what additional options are available(quick shift, launch control, pit limiter, ect). Not to mention he is trackside vender, so any additional questions or issues at track could be taken care of on the spot. http://turnoneracing.com/#home
There is a little bit (2-3mm) of slack in there. I'll give it a shot with less. Thanks for the suggestion. Appreciate the info all.
Harry@apex has all the flash tune software and runs the mobile dyno at the northern event's. shoot him a call or email.
