    Hola,

I'm looking forward to getting back on the track this year, haven't been since 2012. I'm going through the bike and my Pilot Powers I bought in 2011 have only 5-6 track days on them. They should be ok, right?

Look for a manufacure date code on the side.... Should look like 3612 ect... Week of year and year .. 36 th week of 2012... Looks are everything but conditions of storage are key... I wouldn't run 6 year old tires period... But that's me and bikes are expensive... Free Mount and balance with great trackside pricing... Get some new meat and move on!!

No way I'd run a 5 year old tire on the track.

i'll agree with all of the above... STORAGE is key dry and climate controlled... that said. no I wouldn't personally run a 5 year old tire

    1. tire tech has come a long way, the new super sport tires are amazing.
    2. tire pricing and trackside mounting is very affordable
    3. the tires are the single most important thing on your bike.. they are the single contact point between you/the bike and the track surface.. should 300ish bucks hold you back from being safer?

Ditto.. yes tires aren't cheap. BUT how much will it cost if you low side.
Think Best case will be more than the tire price, worst case. OH MY.

Get some new tires, do your self, your group and the one after yours a favor.
    Going down effects us also.

PLEASE take my advice - and get new tires.

In 2010, I bought a 07 GSXR 1K. It had 1200 miles on it, and the OEM tires (BT015) still had the nubs on them...I had a brand new set of Q2's in the truck that I was gonna change out at lunchtime, but thought "hey, I'll just ride it like it is this morning"...and lowsided in Charlotte's web at Barber...The parts to fix cost way more than the tires. Don't pay the stupid tax like I did....
