New to STT and riding the March 20th track day on Sunday with a pal. Will we be able to enter the paddock on Saturday before to just observe the goings-on?

Yes, you can go ahead and sign in at the gate and get your wristband on Saturday. Security is good, so if you wan to bring all your stuff in, set your bikes up and leave it overnight, that is ok also...plenty of people will help watch your stuff.

Yep! By all means, show up early on Saturday to watch the festivities and see how everything operates prior to riding on Sunday. If you find a good spot that you like, you can even go ahead and set up camp too!

I'm from Montgomery. Barber is too close and too nice to pass up the opportunity to ride. Been to Talladega GP and Road Atlanta previously but no track day on Barber yet.

Thanks for the info. We'll take advantage of the day before our ride to get acquainted and set up.

just in case it is not clear, you must arrive, and pay for your pass by 9pm CST. then you can come and go 24/7. If you do not get your pass by 9pm you are locked out I think until 7am the next morning. someone will adjust the times if I am off a little.

rdecae: Noticed the Tuono in your bike list. I recently purchased a 2014 Tuono. What's yours? Ever ridden it in the track?

I have a 2007 Tuono Factory. I commute everyday on it. Yes I tracked it three times, and decided it was too nice/expensive a bike for me to track. So I bought a 2006 SV1000 to track.

That is a link to some pictures and a small write up I did on setting up the bike.
I would enjoy upgrading to a current decade bike :), but honestly the bike still looks great, starts everyday, runs fantastic, so I have a hard time justifying selling the 07 having to add 7K - 8K to that to buy a new bike, that for my use would not be anymore functional.

I have been looking at the new Tuono Factory, the S1000R, the KTM-GT and the new Suzuki GSX-S1000F really intrigues me.

Again lots of money for a limited functionality upgrade. I think I would rather upgrade my track bike say to a 2011 year and just have more money for track time. That 2014 Tuono you have is an awesome bike, and you have one of the best BMW bikes in that K1600 GTL. Nice stable of bikes.

I thought hard about a V2 Tuono before I came across a very low mileage '14 TV4. Owned a lot of bikes before but nothing Italian before this one. If it doesn't pose too many maintenance issues (I'm 3 hours from a dealer) I'll be in love with this one for a long time. Had a '98 Honda VTR 1000 v-twin that was my sport-tourer and commuter for a while before I got into BMW's. Wish I still had that one (and many others).

My buddy who will be attending the Barber track day in March with me has a Suzuki GSX S1000. After he solved the throttle sensitivity issue with a Power Commander and a Throttle Tamer, he is having a blast with it. He also added a quick shifter after riding the Tuono - can't live without it now.

Looking forward to meeting new folks at the track days who are similarly afflicted.
