I wrote up this article about the next step.... Racing. If your half interested take a look. I won five championships w/ CCS this year and this is an article on the banquet Gala but it turned out more about how to get racing. Thoughts? http://design-engine.com/ccs-midwest-banquet-jan-2016/
I think more people should make the leap and enter a race this year. Taking the STT pro school in April and getting your race license when you are done makes it that much easier. Oh and nice job!!!
Haven't read it yet so it may be covered. Any is racing with css or wera are they the race orgs btw? Can you do one race or is it a entire season type thing? Obviously you can do one race but i mean is it a season thing?
I just started racing with the CMRA last year. I had so much fun! I just wish I had started much sooner.
Cant ever see what im actually typing on my phone.. Anyway is it like motogp 18 races a year with a champ declared at the end of the season with a points system. Or a one race deal (19 laps on a single track in one day). If it is like gp are they all at the same track or is it all over the country so that you have to travel? Seems like it would get crazy expensive. And whats the diffrence between CMRA, CSS, & Wera. One better than the other one? Or is it for semi pros, One for noobs. I dont understand
Most do go to a few different tracks for each region. Example, CCS Midwest has 9 events this year. 2 at Autobahn CC, 4 at Blackhawk Farms, 1 Road America, 1 Brainerd International, 1 Gingerman. Now you aren't locked into one region (in CCS you are 'assigned' a home region based on where you live). You can travel to other regions to race if you want, points there wont count towards your home region classes. Now there are series who only race at one track. LRRS only races at NH Motor Speedway. WSMC used to only race at Willow Springs (they shut down in 2012). CCS, WERA, CMRA, CRA and such are club racing orgs. ASRA is CCS's national series. WERA has one also (Michelin National Challenge series & endurance series). As for which is better, well none are better than the other, just different. Different rules, class structures, tracks. Most people just do the one that has the most races in their area. Here (southern WI), CCS is it. CRA is in MN. There used to be another race org in Michigan but went bye bye in the mid 2000's (GLRRA).
Racing absolutely thrilled the pants off me but I don't think it's for everyone. It is more dangerous and expensive. You have to accept the fact that at some point someone is going to stuff you or maybe even brush elbows with you when they pass.
