Im sure this sounds like a dumb question for you seasoned vets. If you have your kick stand removed or safety wired what do you do when you get off the track? Seems like it would be a pain to get it on the rear stand by that I mean you get off the bike your holding the bike, parked 4 inchs to far from the stand your holding the bike trying to grab the stand haha...

Idk seems like a pain in the ass with out a kick stand...

I kind of pull up next to it where I can reach it, then get off the bike and hold it up, and then I kind of lean over the seat/tail to hold it up while I put the hooks under the spools. At that point the stand will hold it upright if you're pressing down on it a little, and you can let the bike go and go ahead and lift her up. I'm sure it looks awkward as hell, but it works. Also, you have to make sure it's accessible before you leave the pit, because if it's not in reach when you pull in it's not going to work.

It's awkward at first, but you get used to it. If you're too far away you can just push the bike around to get it where it needs to be.

Or if you have someone there, they can put it on the stand for ya. I've leaned my bike on the trailer, truck, tree and fence before.

Another option is one of the roll in wheel chocks that hold the bike up by the front tire.

If I was fast enough to have a side stand make a difference in my lap times because of it's weight, I would figure something out. It's a track day and none of us are knocking on the door of the MotoGP grid...... so make it easy on yourself and put a side stand on the bike.

Like they said, it isn't a big deal. When you take the bike off the stand, just put it to the side. Then pull the bike back into the same place when you come off the track and the stand will be right there.

Worst case scenario you ask somebody to give you a hand.

You will get used to it and it will become 2nd nature. Before long you wont even remember what it was like to use the side stand.

Preparation in the key. When you take the bike off the stand do not just toss it out of the way. Place it just to the side of where the bike sits. When you come back to the pits pull your bike into the same position. Stand will be right where you can grab. As others have said it will become 2nd nature after awhile.

You are thinking of centerstands.....they must be removed. Side stands are perfectly OK. Having said that, I would make sure that the spring that holds the side stand up is up to it's task and maybe even safety wire that if there is any chance that it could pop off or come loose.

Some organizations do require it to be fastened or removed, can't remember which ones.

It's a bit more inconvenient for sure, but you get used to it. It's really not that hard. I haven't ever dropped a bike yet while trying to perform that act. You just get off the bike, push it over till you get next to the stand, balance the bike with one hand and put the stand on. One of my track bikes has a stand on it now, although it seems sketchy because of how short it is, and the other one doesn't. Some belly pans on certain track fairings will allow use of a stand, while others don't, so that's pretty much what's been the deciding factor for me. I don't think it would affect my lap times in any way. Honestly the worst part is at home in the garage when you're moving things around and all of a sudden you notice you left the stand on the other side...at the track it's not so bad because where you put your bike first is where it'll be for pretty much the whole weekend, there's no reason to move the bike around.
