Is it OK (and is it suggested) to use the clips through the bolts that hold the caliper to the forks? Assuming the other end is tethered as well without the clip. Currently i am running wire to a clip that is mounted back to the brake line bolt. Is it OK or should I not be using the clips and cut the wires every time i need to do anything with the front end? I can supply pictures later if that would assist in answering.
Done both. CCS was OK with my F2 done up with safety clips. Now they don't even require caliper bolts wired.
If you are just doing track days, it is not required to safety wire the calipers. It doesn't hurt to have it. WERA use to allow the clips, but I hear that they don't like it anymore.
What we do is put a clip through each bolt and then just safety wire the two of them together. Totally reusable. You can even makeep them a little easier to find by putting a bit of rubber tubing over the twisted part between the clips.
Not required for any level of STT. But I've seen the clips used without issue. That would be a question for the race organization you want to race with.
