Yeah, extra CC's is a big difference, but only 36 doesn't make that much difference. Ever seen a dyno chart comparison of the '09-'12 zx6r vs the '13-'16?? Not anything to brag about. Roughly 2-3 hp more up until about 13k-13.5k, after which the old one has about 1-2 more hp actually. I will take TC over a few extra CC's any day of the week. Having had a 160 hp bike with TC, I think that is one of the best features that I think should be added on any race bike. I've had more slides and near high-sides (including one that caused a crash) on my current zx6r and cbr500r, than I ever did on my Ducati 1198 with aftermarket TC! Yeah, yeah...i know..."It's all in the wrist". Well, wrists can get tired very quickly in a race, TC system doesn't. People are more likely to make mistakes than automated systems, and we're not all GP racers, so why not help your wrist by not relying so much on it? :)

For me, the new R6 look and the TC addition, along with the other electronic aids (besides ABS...could care less about that), is enough to make me want it more than previous gens. The price on the other hand....not so much. For that much money I can find a well-sorted lightly used liter bike that has more to offer, and keep my '09 zx6r! ;)

The reason everyone is putting all these electronics is "the wow factor" and insurance purposes.

I'll keep my R1 thank you. The 2017 R6 looks really cool like the R1 but lacks a bunch of technical changes the whole world expected it to get. In the US it is great for MotoA, but in WSS it is now lacking what it needs to be competitive since Kawasaki and MV have stepped it up. This is only My 2c

You bought an R1?? What made you go away from the Italians?

As far as WSS, I think there's other reasons why they're not competitive there...likely because of lack of support from the factory. The new guy, Tuuli, who did 3 races only on an R6 and podium'd in all of them running at the front the whole race, showed the good ole' 6-year old R6 can be plenty competitive. It's interesting to see that the USA is basically dominated by Yamaha, but on the international level, they're mediocre at best. Meanwhile nobody rides a Honda in MotoAmerica, but in WSS they're doing pretty damn well. It has to be related to factory support in some way or another.

Not leaving the Italians, I'm keeping my MV and will get another Italian bike in the future. Really want a Naked bike for coaching - could be Italian, could be Japanese.

One ride on the R1 was enough to convince me that it's awesome, second ride... had to have one. Would have bought a new one and built it, but Steve Palella was selling his already well equipped/maintained R1 - saved me time, effort and money. Steve and Tea are great plus the R1 stays in the STT family as well. No remorse I love it. Took it to Barber and had a blast. went faster every session over the weekend!

I'll personalize it (top shelf Brembo's, carbon wheels, Swenson paint, etc) because I must do that, its the law. :) Broome can't have bikes that look better than mine.

Been busy getting ready for 2017 - parting out the RSV4, sold my trailer, sell my SUV, got the R1, new Zuma, new toy hauler and new truck <all used, just new to me> so I can stay at the track, stop paying for motels, get around the paddock and enjoy the weekends a bit more! Cheers!

That's awesome! Good to hear. The truck and toy hauler will be great investments I'm sure. I much prefer to stay at the tracks, even in my little enclosed trailer. And yeah, I obviously expected to see some carbon and titanium bits on that R1...especially carbon wheels! That's just Clayton fashion ;)

Looking forward to next year already! Gonna be a long winter again!

That actually made me laugh...I know Chris' bikes...guess I have to find yours in the paddock to compare...(and you have the F3 RC which makes me like you already anyway)....

Yeah this. It's still the bike to have in AMA SS/MotoAmerica SS (whatever you want to call it now) and in British SS. Certainly at the club level it dominates because of the handling and top end power. I think I heard an announcer say that Yamaha is going to field a factory supported SS team next season so we'll see how that goes.

Yes going to put new RBX2 carbon wheels on the R1 - it will match the MV! Already started upgrades - driving Van & Crew at STG crazy with parts quotes. A bunch of steel has been swapped for Titanium. Considering having Andrew Swenson paint it just like my MV. Really like how the MV looks and the R1 would look really good with a similar scheme.

Planning to go to Jennings in Dec, COTA in March, Barber in April. I hate winter, I'm from Florida, I hate snow and cold. Why do I live up here? - oh yeah, the job...

COTA in March? You know that's happening for sure? I keep asking around but I guess the 2017 schedule hasn't been released yet. I hope they'll have one in March again, because I plan on going there too!

My friend Thanh Li knows the director who is putting the event on. Only thing not solid yet is the exact weekend that it will happen. It is a really cool track, reminds me of parts of - NOLA, Road America, Barber and Miller.
