I'm with @steve p I would guess not COTA is ridiculously expensive to run currently.. most Track days that I have seen come across are in the 400-500 PER DAY range I would imagine that's not in the spectrum of most TD riders to do often or even a weekend when that is the same price as 3-4 days for us everywhere else
I'm not 100% sure but I believe RideSmart is the only track day organization that does COTA. I did it this year because they had two "heat of summer" sale dates and it was $400 per day. Normally it's $495. I did one day and had a blast! It was a bucket list track for me so unless I hit the lottery, I'll not be riding there again because of the cost and distance (St Louis). I will say it was worth it though!
That's how i was looking at it too, being from Florida, a bucket list one off trip because of the distance. I went to Mid O in 2013, Miller in 2015, Laguna in 2016. Got to do COTA at some point. I guess the big trip this year will be Sonoma or Thunderhill if no chance STT goes to COTA. With such limited dates available thru Ride Smart I would guess that STT could sell out a weekend even at $495/day....assuming they could get a date, that might be more to the point.
I did Mid Ohio in May 2016, great fun! In the 2&1/2 seasons I've ridden, I've been to 24 different tracks and have had a great time doing so! This year I'm going to keep most of my rides within a 6 hour drive and save money for 2018 so I can go to California and ride the west coast tracks. COTA is definitely worth doing! It's way more technical than I thought it'd be. The track surface is obviously great and the general atmosphere of being there was cool! There were people there from all over the world! I've experienced that at JenningsGp during the winter but there were way more people from other countries when I was at COTA. I've ridden with RideSmart 4 times and they are a good organization. Right up there with STT in my opinion.
I am planning on going as well. I will be leaving from Chicago and looking for people to carpool. I have an enclosed trailer and I am still debating if I should try to rent a truck or take my wife's SUV...lots of miles...
Looks like there is 6 of us from the STT North area signed up for COTA March 11/12! Should be a fun trip!
I'm in Lincoln, IL. I have an f150 that can seat 5 (4 is better). Topper on the back to keep gear covered. I have no trailer but would haul one. I'm looking to make this trip as cheap as possible. Camping at the track. I have to be there Saturday for their licensing class. That's the only day I would run. Thoughts?
March isn't realistic for me but I'd love to ride that track. At least I'll be able to make MotoGP this year. Funny, Laguna Seca, a long time World Class track has moto days all the time at what appears to be half the cost. WTH COTA?

Laguna is actually a public recreation area owned by the county....COTA is a brand new $200 Million dollar facility (I read somewhere that Barber was $50-60 Million for reference)
Good point. I'm looking at the RideSmart page and it looks like teh track days are only $160. Am I doing it wrong?
I too am heading down for RideSmart's COTA weekend. Ive done 10+ days with RS at COTA and for anyone thinking of it it is totally worth the trip. My drive is from Boston so I am heading out early to pick up a few other days as well...too cold here! My bucket list track this year is Road America. See you in Wisconsin.
