Anyone know if Apex services forks for non racers? If so about what they charge? 2008 GSXR 600 all OEM
If you are in to wrenching... http://www.hayabusa.org/forum/threads/another-run-at-fork-seals.147920/
What Is your lociation? I am certain Harry could do them but its not his true business... Lots of great options in Georgia.... GMD or Thermosman would be worth shipping or delivering them too.
Thanks for all of the responses!! I am in South Bend, IN. Local shop here quoted me around $400 to change the seals and change the oil with me bringing him the forks. So if this job is as simple as the forum post is then I will attempt this my self!! I was under the impression that you needed several specialty tools to compress the spring, etc etc.
If just replacing an oil seal it's basically that easy although I wouldn't take the cartridge out myself, just personal preference, and you are getting into a more complex job by not removing it. $400 does seem a little high but $200-250 isn't unusual for a good job which includes both seals and dust seals as well as FULL disassembly of the cartridge and valving to clean it all up, you would be amazed at how much trash can accumulate in the forks. Just pumping out the oil and refill does some good but if it has been awhile since a full service was performed you will be amazed how much gunk has built up in the pistons, etc. I've seen forks not even working "correctly" due to bleed holes and bypasses not working as they were clogged.
