Anyone Else Going to Austin - MotoGP

I was seriously considering going. Then they killed the GP in Indy..
So nope. Won't support the greedy blankers.

I hope you will have a fantastic time. Should be great racing.
The one thing that track has that Indy doesn't is a decent elevation change.

Talked with an IMS official (neighbor), the GP wanted to come back. Only if IMS would double the 2 million dollar fee to them.
IMS had just started making a profit, the extra 2 million would have had IMS loosing again. The declined the offer.
Very similar to the F1 mess.

 

Hope you have a great time! would love to make it to COTA one of these days. But whether it be in Indy, Laguna Seca, etc. it would be nice for them to bring another race back to the US. Especially considering there are 4 in Spain. I guess it would take some American riders in the Premier class to make that happen though.

 

I was able to go to Austin for MotoGP, saw Dave Grey down there, and met some good people with the same passion for motorcycling. We were hosted by Michelin, and had the opportunity to meet a few of the racers. Loris Baz, Bradley Smith, and Aleix Espargaro. The highlights we're going into Crutchlow's garage, as well as Lorenzo and Dovisioso's. Michelin, had surprise guests show up with Colin Edwards, Maverick Vinales, and Gard Hollinger(ARCH Motorcycles). I also enjoyed the Moto America races, and the racers were all awesome to meet, Josh Hayes and Cameron Beaubier, and more who I don't know who they were but were just happy to meet guys that are riding at that level.

Had an awesome time, and hope to get invited back next year, but it sounds like my Michelin 4wheel contact will be taking BMW next year....BULLSHIT!!!

 

Yes we were all treated very well by the Michelin folks, no complaints in that department, I don't think I could say thank you enough to all of the Michelin team! Here's one of the photos from the event.
