Guys, I apologize for red flagging session 4 Monday after lunch. It seems my rear tire warmer was not working and I had no grip when I hit the tar line. I am ok. thanks
damn, that's gotta be a record, only made it a few hundred feet! (sorry ) I was an A group casualty earlier that day and tucked the front through turn 10 (exit of chicane). wish I had video to help sort it out. if anyone has info on the rider's condition that had that bad A group crash on Sunday (in charlotte's web) please share. looked serious, I hope he's ok.
I was the guy on the Apex directly behind you. I felt really bad watching your bike go to pieces. Glad you are ok. You became topic of discussion(well, part of it) that i had with another instructor yesterday. Most of the talk was about mental focus and routine. Two things everyone should work on, always. The other instructor and i both do the same. ...........(third call) helmet on, touch both warmers to feel for heat, gloves on, front warmer off.......... You may want to add that to your routine. For anyone that doesn’t know first hand, yes, cold slicks are worse than useless.
Touching the warmers and even the tires after you pull the warmer off is a good part to add to your 3rd call routine. Also somewhere in there, add a tire pressure check into your list.
TSX thanks for the sympathy. It was tough picking up the pieces. LOL We live and learn for sure. I can truthfully say I will never make that mistake again. I usually leave my gloves off when I am removing the warmers but put them on since I had just washed my hands at lunch. It was a heavy price to pay. I told Trevor I thought there was oil on the track I slipped so hard. It took Clyde's help to figure out the warmer was not working.
That was a beautiful bike spread across the track. Unfortunately I know all about committing to never repeating a mistake. I’ve made a few big ones on track myself. You just have to take your lumps, learn your lesson, and get on with it.

I had the same thing happen to me that weekend (failed warmer); fortunately, I DID check my rear with my hands when removing the warmers, and caught it...
Tar line or Flat spot..... I wrecked in that exact same spot.... Of course after passing the speed academy class on the warm up lap... Talk about humiliation... Jason just pointed at me and said DONT DO THAT PEOPLE!Lol
