I've been looking into and comparing the various suspension upgrade options for my ZX10R. Recently spoke with a rep from Trackside Suspension & Engineering about their unique set-up, part of that set-up including 20mm extended damping rods. What would the benefit be to having that much more fork travel over OEM?

It seems like quite a bit. The forks (when setting the bike to OEM ride height) stick out a lot from the triple and I feel like the compression damping (correct me if that would be wrong, I'm a suspension noob) would have to be way cranked to keep the front end from diving that much more over stock?

And with the right internals sprung for my weight (also included in the kit) the extra travel seems kind of counter-intuitive on a sportbike.

The actual damping rods are longer or just extensions on the fork tubes? I don't know ZX10 setup but with many GSXRs we add longer caps so the forks can be dropped farther into the triples, adding trail.

Does TSE lengthen the fork by extending the amount of travel +20 mm, or do they lengthen the entire fork 20 mm, with travel staying the same?

Edit: I'm assuming the travel increases +20. I have +10 extended travel on my ZX10 because it allows the bike to put a little more weight on the rear, while keeping the front wheel on the ground a little longer while accelerating off the corner. Sag is increased in front a lot this way, 30-35 mm.

you would have to talk to TSE directly to see what is done, =10mm internally is common 20 would be a lot, that may be done by installing an exteneded fork cap
