Will there be mandatory intermediate classes this event?
I was one of the numbskulls that missed the first meeting last year not because I didn't feel like going, but it just completely skipped my mind after the adrenaline dump of the first track session of the year!

I felt bad for missing but felt worse for having to sit out the next session. :(

hey! just make sure to be at the MANDATORY morning meeting, from that we will break up into groups. Novice will go to the classroom, intermediate and advanced will stay outside in groups by the winners circle . that is were the group leader for the day will go over the group requirements for the day and give you all pertinent info about the track and conditions as they apply

Thing is I WAS at the meeting. I HEARD the announcement. And I STILL completely missed it. My mind was elsewhere when I left the track.
Pay attention folks, lol. Don't be an airhead like me!

This will be my first track day ever. I know running in the rain is common and usual for bikes, but I've been keeping an eye on the weather forcasts to know what to pack and as of today predictions are for thunderstorms early and continue throughout the day. What are the facility and organizations rules on that? Would any riding go on if thunderstorms, and would canopies be allowed with lightning? Would seem miserable to not escape the rain at all in leathers and with all your equipment and gear. At what point does rain stop track time? Is it how hard its raining, or just if standing water on the track?
Might be dumb questions, but I'm as new as it gets to this track day stuff.

    Thanks

no dumb questions! Welcome to the addiction. As far as riding, we ride in almost all weather conditions. there are a few things that would stop on track activities in regards to rain. the first is Lightning, and the second is not the amount or how hard it rains it is standing water that is to dangerous to ride through.. the coaches, director and facility staff will all collectively make that decision in the name of safety! as far as ezups you can certainly have it up and used I would highly suggest weighing it down on ALL the legs you would hate to be the dude that has a canopy run down the pits and possibly hit something or some one due to wind!

that said you are not forced by any means to go out in any condition you personally deem is to much of a risk for you! though the We the coaches will be available and ready to take you out as long as the track is green flagged (means open to the current group session) there is plenty to learn in all conditions!

Feel free to find any of us in the pits and ask, and be sure to talk to your assigned coach during your novice classes

Thanks for the info. I am showing up with brand new Michelin power RS tires on an sv650 track dedicated bike. I haven't had the time yet to put bearings in the second set of wheels I aquired for rain tires. Do you guys think slow pace in the rain that the RS will be ok and not too dangerous? Or will I need to change them out and buy into rains to get through Saturday ( if forecast is accurate)?

Also to add to weighing down the legs of the canopy, I usually secure the cross beam that is facing the wind to my tool box or cooler since I've had a few canopies collapse in the wind. Maybe not an issue for and ezup though, I just have a standard/cheap canopy.

I cannot tell you where it is safe or not or if you should ride. I will say that I personally have ridden similar tires in good shape. what you feel you need is what you should do.

also I used Ezup as a generic term.. I use the cheap popups too.

    Re: Parking

Are we only allowed to park in the area depicted on the parking map from attachment 9178 or is the lot by the kart track available as well?
