It seems there's many choices out there to choose from. Alpinestars has a 1 piece that's $169 or you can go with underarmour heat gear for about half that price. So what do you get for that extra cash is you opt for the AStar suit? Does anyone have a positive experience with a more affordable base layer that will keep you cool on those hot trackdays?
I unfortunately do not have experience, nor do I know the difference between the A* liner, but if it helps I was thinking of picking this up: https://www.sportbiketrackgear.com/psycleskins-undersuit-base-layer/
I use the two piece under armor stuff. Works great, and it's inexpensive and easier to get in and out of. Buy two sets so you have a fresh set for multiple days at the track.
Thanks all. I'll probably go with underarmour. I just cant imagine the alpinestars base layer being worth it.
I have a moto-d undersuit along with a few different cheapo base layer tops and bottoms. All work great for moisture wicking. As suggested, if you're doing multiple days, having more than 1 set is nice!
I second MOTO D. same material as the expensive alpinestars stuff and works just as good if not better. they also have a version with chest armor inserts. MOTOD will keep you cool on hot days as well as make taking your suit on and off easier. I would not advise on two piece under armor as they tend to bunch up in your mid section
I have never used A-stars brand of base layer, no comment on that. I have used underarmor comp shirts, works ok aiding you to get in/out of your suit! They stretch out and become thin, fast for me! 3 years ago I looked into VnM sport base layers, then bought a shirt/pant combo! Pricey but so far they are far superior to underarmor's! I'm happy with mine and it still squeezes me in the right spots as new. Of course there is slight "fuzzing" on my belly, that is from the Velcro of my back protector making contact with the shirt. Velcro will always wear out any type of base layers. Its just what Velcro does to such materials. I'm still very happy with my VnM sport base layer. Look them up. Aliki (CEO) was very helpful and great to talk too over the phone! https://www.facebook.com/VnMSport/
Ive used the MotoD undersuit for almost 3 years now, pretty happy with it, and lots cheaper than the astars one. I think i paid 70ish
