I'm hearing reading different things. I'm told at STT, once you've done a N, if no issues you could sign yourself up for I then. On my TD on 5/30/21- I had no problems and no negatives came from STT staff, others etc. Can I sign up for I at Road America for 7/25/21?
Bad idea, IMO. Get evaluated and have a control rider move you up to I if you are ready. Folks are "bumped" between groups and its a formal thing that happens, where you are looked at and told you are ready to move up. Odds are after 1 day it will take some time to get that move up but when you do its a nice feeling. See you are Road America, you will love it.
There’s a ton of open track at RA, riding in novice will not hold you back and there’s always something to learn. After a couple of sessions if you think you’re ready, ask the coach for your group about a bump and they can give you their assessment. The first couple groups in Novice at RA tend to be a pretty quick pace.
They politely refunded my I entry, and I'm keeping my N entry on 7/25/21. I've watched a LOT of YouTubes of STT track days. I've watched a lot of N,I, and A. Honestly, I'm not sure how some of the riders I see in the camera shots of the I rider even got bumped to I, riding the way the do LOL. Who knows though? Maybe still faster than me? I was always predictable, held good lines, did not make 'ill allowed' passes, etc. I was never reprimanded, etc. Road America ( in WI. we call in RA- but everyone else may also assume Road Atlanta) is BIG. I'll have plenty of room for my LiterBike to pass slower riders that notoriously 'Park it' in corners LOL.
From my experience it is usually the liter bikes throwing the chute after drag racing down the straights and parking it into turns 1 and 5
Well, you didn't see me doing that. I did see someone on an MV Augusta doing it tough LOL They would 'park it in the corners, then pin the throttle on the straights. I got so frustrated with ir 1 lap I DID blow by him on the back straight anyways on my Liter bike. Otherwise, I'd go 70ish% and/or keep in in 3rd on the straights. *I didn't pay to do TD so I could drag race. It was all about my corner speed, lines, etc. Especially in the N group I was in, I probably had the top 3% fastest bike there LOL
