Ive sold my AMG which I used to do track days with and transitioning into motorcycle track days to get my fix. I'm looking to do 3 track days in 2016 on my 04 600RR.

Iv got a 2ct front that was put on last year early summer late spring. And a rear 2ct that is maybe 2 summers old.

Both tires have there profiles still. Obviously the rear is worn down a little bit but not Terrible.

What are your thoughts? I'm on an extremely tight budget and the cost of a suit, boots, gloves and replacing a 5 year old helmet has put me in a pickle.

Ive been riding for 10 years now and finally looking to get my feet wet. Im perfectly comfortable in a track environment and at speed and understand I'm new to the 2-wheel track experience. Starting slow and learning is wear my head is at so I feel I should be good in the novice group with these tires?

    Any tips/advice is welcomed

2CTs are plenty sticky. I believe you need 50% tire life or better to pass tech

I'm no professional, but I do research on tires before buying them. I'm guessing you are talking about Michelin's? Pretty much all street tires that I'm aware of now use a 2 compound tread. I would say they would be fine, but it all really depends on how fast you are. You can still run fast times in novice if you feel comfortable doing it. I did my first day at road Atlanta in October, started in novice, got bumped to intermediate at the end of the first day. I'm currently running bridgestone rs10's, but will be moving to a dot race tire next. If you are comfortable on your bike and your riding skills, only you really can tell if your tires will be ok for your first track experience.

Knowing your new to doing track days, to a track plan on taking it easy.
Sounds like your not making your bike a dedicated track bike, so going down will be expensive.
Take it easy and your tires should be fine. If you find your at the top of the novice group, hold back learn consistency and then decide if your tires will allow you to take it up a notch.

I do plan on converting it to a full track bike in the next 12-18 months, gain experience in the next 24-36 months than start racing in one of the many clubs around here. Probably CCS.

Iv been hit by cars 3 times over the last 10 years and stickers cover up most of the scratches and zip ties hold the bottom fairings on. I can afford to write the bike off physically but it would suck emotionally since I don't have another bike for the road. Time for a cruiser so I can enjoy the flat Chicagoland roads a little more. Aging sucks
