Just thought I'd try to be proactive and see if this is gonna get me through tech or not at Grattan next weekend. This is sort of an old clunker of a camera and there really aren't any good spots for a tether on the camera body. The cradle it sits in seems to be pretty sturdy, but I know it won't do on its own, so I drilled through the cradle and added a couple zip ties along with a place to attach a tether to the bike itself. I also plan on wiring the thumb screws too. It also uses the typical assortment of GoPro style adhesive mounts and thumb screws that everyone is familiar with too. Whatcha all think? Yea or nay?

I'm not passing it being held together by zip ties.......you are gonna have to find a better way to hold the camera to the base(safety wire).....hope that helps

Let me give you a little more clarity on it..... i have watched poorly secured cameras go bouncing all over the track, including bouncing off of me.......cameras should be mounted with the same care we take to protect drain and fill plugs......use that as a rule to follow while mounting it.......would your oil plug pass tech if it were held on like that????

Fair enough, that's why I'm asking here.

No worries.....better to ask now than have to spend your morning at the track trying to figure it out.....

I'll keep trying to come up with something, but I'll be up on Friday night and maybe I can grab a staff member and see if we can come up with something that will work. If I can't use it, then so be it. I don't want to be the cause of any problems on the track.

I believe if you ran two wire ties about the camera to the base, one front, one back with a hole drilled in the base to pass the wire so it won't move. 1/16 hole
Drilled a hole in the base and wire tied that to the motorcycle you would be good.
Because the wire could scratch the camera, wrap that area with a couple loops of electrical tape, wire tie over it.

Thanks for the suggestion, that's exactly what I was thinking of trying. It was hard to tell from the photo, but I already drilled the cradle and the zip ties were, in fact, passing through the holes. The safety wire in the photo is also passing through a hole in the cradle and was intended to act as a tether to the motorcycle.
