... I am about to purchase one. I was wondering if you might have any advice. Whether it be brand, size. most critical customizations or other things you have learned along the way.

I believe it was Vernon who suggested that I get the 8.5' wide trailer, that the extra width would be appreciated later. I am considering at least a 16' trailer, of not 18' or 20'. I am thinking of going to advantagetrailer.com in Carol Stream, IL as they customize trailers and even reference trailers for trackdays. I'll do as many of the customizations myself as I can but I am curious as to what things you did to your trailers you thought were most helpful.

I do plan to sleep in the trailer at night, after taking bikes out. I am thinking I want some storage built in, and I am really keen to have a nice grippy durable floor put in.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to avoid spending more than necessary so I can give STT more of my money.

    Thanks,
    -Neil

I started with a 6x12 now have a 7 x15 Legend trailers are high end I have a all aluminum and towing it with a Tahoe.
I really like the rubber g flooring I put it in both of them. can be bought from menards or home depot.
Roof vent is a must especially if you decide to go to hot climates you will want a roof top ac. the portables wont cool in direct sun.
I can fit 3 fullsize bikes a z125 pro and my tool box with pitbull restraints (another must have) and 2 2000 watt suitcase genrators.
We pull them all out at the track and blow up a airbed.

    this is my newer 7x15

keep in mind a 7 feet is normal width of vehicles anything wider has more wind drag and tow mirrors will be a must

Not true about the Mirrors.... I pulled my 8.5 X 18 with a Silverado 1500 with no tow mirrors all last year... Checking lanes was not a issue... You really need to consider what your pulling it with and total weight... Once you go to the 8.5 Width the structure of the trailer is much different and heavier... I upgraded to a RAM 2500 last year..I got mine PACE already built... Could I have saved a couple thousand doing it myself? Sure but It never would have come out looking like it does now... I have rubber coin flooring... Carpeted walls.... Pit Bull TRS's as well as a middle removable Pitbull chock I use for my scooter or a third bike..Whats good about this is I also Have a Futon I put in front of the bikes so if I get to the track and the weather is bad I don't have to unload anything... There is a small living quarter area to walk around in ..... Make a cocktail, dinner ect..... I have AC, Heat and since every track I go too has showers and a crapper I really didn't want to build a trailer around those and waste space.... I am happy with a Pace....

What you have is what I am currently imagining. No frills (such as sink/stove/fridge/toilet,etc) just nice floor, cabinetry, AC, and room. I wasn't planning on a heater as i figure I could just wear extra clothing to stay warm. May I ask where you got your PACE?

I drove down and picked it up.. 3 Hours South of Atlanta.... They are a wholesaler and deal with ost of the big companies... They are all made down in that area.... Look under Race Car trailers and the 8.5's are there... I had mine custom made.... Length... Cabinet color ect....

Well, I am on the verge of spending $10-$14K on a trailer. Decision this week. I've been looking for used trailers where someone has decided to upgrade or stop trackdays but, have not had much luck. If anyone knows of someone wanting to trade-up in teh next 60 days, or any other good deal, I would love to hear of it before I pull the trigger. At present I am looking at a 7x14 or a 7x16 trailer tricked out with vinyl walls, grippy flooring, insulation, power outlets, vent, and lots and lots of cabinets. I figure I can add ac, fridge, microwave, and the rest later. I figure if getting used I could make my dollar stretch to cover more but, at present newly customized is the only option I have in front of me.

I'm looking at a 7' wide, but those cabinets are exactly what I am spec'ing out in mine. in fact, this is near exact what I am going for except the AC and only 7' wide. I want AC but I am up north and I can do without it for awhile. I am ensuirng however that the support and wiring is in place for the eventual AC. I do want power outlets throughout mine though and I don't see those in yours. I'm looking to plug the generator into the trailer and then have power throughout the trailer for (eventual) ac, fridge, microwave, coffe machine, whatever. I am jealous of the 8.5' width, that must be very nice.

Well my 50 AMP box is set under the counter... When I ordered you got 2 outlets for 110 included.. I put one on the inside by the door in the front and one in the rear... Also I added one on the outside by the door you can see in that pic for tire Warmers, fans ect... The main 50 amp insert is in the front of the trailer... I have 75 feet of power cord which works at most tracks for me..One mistake I made was on the blue prints I thought there was another 110 outlet under the cabinets on the counter but it turned out to be a individual light switch for that light only.. I plan on having another one put in... Yes you can get the trailer Prewired for AC... Do it... It can get hot up North too. And I tell ya the AC is what makes this thing killer... I keep a barstool in by the counter and it's perfect on hot 100 plus days down here...If you get a 7 foot wide there is a pretty big difference in space...height too.. 8.5's usually have a internal step.. 7x 16's don't so make sure you get a 6'6 interior height.. It makes a huge difference...

I agree 100% roof top a/c ( I tried a portable not even a close comparison to the roof unit) and the 6' 6" height

For that price have you looked at a Cherokee Wolf Pup toy hauler? New they are around $12K-ish. Just need a tow vehicle than can handle a 6000lbs GVRW trailer.
