the rpha-10 is as nice as any shoei IMO. IDK about a comparison to arai, never owned one. made in korea.
I prefer Shoei however crashing in HJC, Scorpion, Arai and Shark I would trust any of them... I really like the Shark but my Shoei fits much better.. Not a fan of the new Bell Helmets... I tried one about 3 years ago and just didnt like the feel... Helmets and heads are like people and bikes.... Just find a good reliable brand (Made in China or not) find what fits you and what feels best and just Pin it to Win it!!!
One thing I despise about my RPHA-10 is the pinlock anti-fog shield. The upper line for that insert is ALWAYS right in my field of view with my head down looking through a corner. The FG-17 has a taller shield so it wasn't an issue on that helmet.
You can get these for $200 now from Rider's discount. Awesome helmet, so light weight. I used to have a Shoei Quest until I rashed it up. http://www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?t=169353 People have paid $450 for these a year ago
according to Sharp, the HJC only got a 3 star rating. http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testhelm...10&sharp-type=2&sharp-rating=1&discontinued=1 Compare that to all but one Bell models, which are rated with 5 stars http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testhelm...ice-from=0&sharp-price-to=9999&discontinued=1
who? I've never heard of those Bell models. I love Bell, they fit me great. But for $200 that HJC is unbeatable....I have one.
I vote for Bell Star Carbon ----OR---- X-Lite from ebay. Best Bang for Buck! I have a Aria Corsair V and like my Bell Star Carbon better. I have never owned a X-Lite but tried them on and the quality is better than anything I have seen. Plus, they are light. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...n+X-Lite+802R&_nkw=nolan+X-Lite+802R&_sacat=0
