Team Sportbike Tracktime/Apex/Four Four Motorsports had a awesome weekend at the 2nd MotoAmerica Stop for the year at Road Atlanta. Friday was a very sketch day for practice with the damp conditions in the AM that played havoc on tire selections. Using up a Old Rain from COTA Taylor was able to run a strong practice and get ready for Qualifying on Sat regardless of the track conditions. Friday night we had a big cookout (Imagine that) and just discussed the plans for the next 2 days.. With conditions being damp once again for Saturday Qualifying Taylor wanted to go out in the begining of the timed session on the Rain's once again. After the first lap he signaled he was coming in and to mount the slicks. We lost about 4 Min to do this tire change with no quick release system ect. However Taylor was still able to Qualify on Row 3 overall which is pretty good for a Superstock 1000 Bike. With both races being on Sunday unlike the 600's we knew we were in for a little wet stuff.. The practice in the AM had nothing to prove and Taylor took it easy and once again rode in some semi damp conditions. Race One Taylor got a Awesome Start however there was a Red Flag and the race got cut from 22 Laps to 14. Next Restart Taylor got out and simply hauled the mail picking up another podium for the year and finishing a strong 3rd behind Tyler O'hara and Josh Day. It was a pretty emotional Podium with Tryg Westby taking the Team Trophy... It was also cool to see Jake Lewis get his First Podium in Superbike and see Tyler O'hara do well as well.. Race 2 Supersport 600 race was going to start and after the initial grid lap they called them in for severe weather.... Ok her it comes... It rained like crazy for 2 Hours...Major Delay... Perfect for the Argentina MotoGP Race!!! We all watched under the EZ Up huddled around a IPhone like it was a Big Screen... What a race!! At the finish we heard there was a Clay river with Rapids crossing the track in several spots with Airfence floating down... The crowds started to leave... People started to pack up but after 2 Hours the show went on. Taylors next race was also restructured to go from 22 to 14 laps. With another great start he was able to get up to 2nd behind Gagne but was once again snipped out by O'hara mid race. We had a huge lead in front of 4th and he held on for his second podium of the day.... It was cool to see him do so well and the 4 of us help him on a successfull weekend...
I had no time to take pics on the wall.... I am sure there will be several on the MotoAmerica site... Also this race will be televised next Sunday!! Look for some good looking guy with headsets on and a Pitboard... Thats me...LOL
MotoAmericas crew had full rights to your bikes and camera placement as well.. They were all over them but staying out of your way at the same time....
