I am visiting the parents in Troy, MI for the next four days. Wondering if there are any decent mtb trails around worth hauling my bike from Indiana

Hmmm. I just re-read what I wrote above and it sounded kinda snarky. Sorry for that, I just wasn't sure of the actual web address, but it looks like it worked out!

Highland is not to be missed, but it's a gut buster. Either uphill or downhill the entire time. Island Lake is easier but flows really nicely. Torn Shirt in Brighton isn't far away, either.

From Troy, you could hop on the Clinton River trail, and find your way to the Macomb Orchard Trail and/or Paint Creek Trail. Paint Creek heads into Lake Orion, along with tying into Stoney Creek Park, which has it's own trails.

Brad, a mtb is on my list for next summer. Been too long. We'll have to hit the trails as much as possible. I used to ride the trails at Stoney Creek when I lived in Rochester. You show me Tree Farms, I'll show you SC.

Stony Creek trails are awesome. I make an effort to go once a week after work. The roller coaster is intense! +1 on paint creek trail and bloomer park. Chad, you're close to Island Lake right? There are some fun downhill sections there along with Mount Brighton.
