Been doing some research about how to make generators very quiet. There are more than a couple companies making quiet kits and exhaust systems for power equipment (not only generators). Thing is you probably should ask yourself "do you save $300 just to spend 1/2 of it making the thing quiet" or do you go buy a really good Yamaha/Honda generator and have no noise or reliability issues again. Hmmm?

Love me some Yamaha generators, just sayin' No one ever complains when they are running even at night!

As long as its a quiet generator no one generally cares, but if its a commercial loud one you leave on all night some people will pry be knocking on your door.

I'm one of those guys with the loud generators, usually turn my off around 11pm, because I'm too cold or hot.

Was wondering what I could do about the loudest during the day.

I'm gonna work on a 3 x 3 box with some left over whisper pad from the flooring I just had done.

    Thanks for your thread.

    just a side note.
I recently got a Briggs & Stratton 2200W gen and it is very well built and very quiet. I think it's quieter than a honda.
Starts right up on the first (gentle) pull, even right out of the box started at the second pull. It is the most expensive non-honda/yamaha gen but it's still almost half the price.
I think Briggs & Stratton (made in USA) makes high quality stuff at reasonable prices and we should genuinely recognize it.

Ps: I owned it for about 6 months so I'm not statistics here, but just a note for somebody looking for a good gen.

Seems like a good alternative to save a few hundred bucks. Any idea on the long term reliability vs a Japanese unit?

    no idea.
I find really weird that these generators are not more popular. This company is a well established company and it's well known for the quality of their products.
Well...I hope I won't discover why they don't sell more generators...
