Wanting to upgrade my old A* track back protector and thinking of going to an armored vest option. For those of you with track experience what is your option and why? Thank you.
Also add what you recomend (brand/model) I look at.

I wear a back protector but would happily wear an armored vest if I had enough room in my suit, lol! I'd have to move up a size in my suit to wear a vest because it's getting harder to zip up over my beer gut!

I'd highly suggest something with both back and chest protection that is CE approved whether it be a vest or individual back and chest protectors. I currently wear Bohn back and chest protection.

Seriously Paul? A Bohn still? Dude, call me!

I wear a Knox Contour (older style) but could never get comfy wearing the chest protector. I should try again with that.

VEST if you can fit in it. I have an Astars that I used all last season...

I have been wearing my Forcefeild for over 10 Years now.... Chest and back is always talked about but people forget about the sides/torso... This covers you.... As Mark Sheldon always said..... You can buy all the Frame Sliders and Axel sliders you want.... Shit on a bike is replaceable... Body Parts are not... Best $100 you will ever spend here....

I've been running the Forcefield back protector since 2009. It's great! Though these early versions were very warm. They don't flow much air. I've been considering a vest that has the shoulder, spine, forearm, etc pads on it. Then I guess I'd pull all that out of my leathers. Leaving the hip and lower body padding in. Anyone else done this? It's time for an upgrade this year. I'm also looking at one of the inflatable vests that Draik B. and others have been using. They seem to be more popular out west, but catching on around here.

    Anyone have thoughts or suggestions?
    Good topic!

I have a brand new Forcefield, but I can't get into my suit with it, but I do agree it's really GREAT protection all the way around. I'd be glad to sell it if anyone were interested....

Wore this vest for the first time last season. Really comfortable, and more importantly, stays put and doesn't ride up like my Knox Contour used to. Also had a chance to crash test it at Autobahn....did its job very well...

Thank you for your input but crash testing it on my behalf was not necessary. ☺ on a serious note I pray you suffered no real injuries and are back in the saddle.
How about the chest protection? Is it good? Kidney protection?
    Thank you.

I ended up going with the ForceField over the Knox. I bought both and sent the Knox back even-though it had many pluses:
+Better air flow fits like a mesh vest vs a sleeveless tshirt.
+Longer giving more coverage to coax (butt)
-Fit seemed off for me, to tight around the belly but that could be another problem.
-No chest protection, however if this is of concern its easy to get a stand alone chest protector

But it was easier to put on my leathers over the ForceField then it was the Knox and since I usually go to the track myself its important that I can dress by myself. :) When it came down to it the ForceField just fit better by itself and under my coats and one piece leathers.
+Their armor just moves more organicly with the body, but it doesnt feel like you wearing protection
    +Chest protection
    +Way better belt
+Pockets, not a protection thing, but if worn on a canyon ride its a nice place to tuck some get-out-of-jail cash.
    -Collar doesn't fit right
-Not mesh enough (if that makes since) for airflow

neither have any kidney protection like the Spidi Defender vest, anyone have one of these?
