I'm unveiling my new (to me) tramper. It's part utility trailer, part stripped down camper and 100% tramper! So long as there's still power available Saturday morning I'll have A/C, so if anyone needs to get out of the heat for a few all I charge is some good bench racing stories. I'll be in the red Dodge ram and the graphite 07 Daytona 675.
After looking at multiple weather apps/ channels ....i would say its going to be a wet one more than not. Come prepared for some wet riding. And if by chance it doesnt rain......atleast you were prepared. Because as we all know to well......the minute you decide not to bring something, you'll need it the whole time your there. Atleast thats how it works with me. If I didnt have bad luck....I wouldnt have any at all.
First track day in rain Any special prep procedures (1st wet track day). Many dry ones under the proverbial belt. Do you prep your leathers for wet riding? Glove prep? Boots? Sounds like we may have thunderstorms! It will be fun since it will be warm!!!
Bring an extra change of clothes to get into for the ride home. Bring a garbage bag for wet gear on the way home (BE SURE TO REMOVE IT ONCE HOME) Enjoy and remember smooth inputs wins second place for the trackday (the bike won't be shiny or first) Oh and this is me not policy but if you can hear thunder the next strike could be where you are. I do not ride then. Most places seem to go on a distance on lightning not thunder.
How is barber after a rain storm? Is there a lot of standing water/ water crossing the track. Thinking about coming late Saturday into Sunday but I do not have rains or even dot tires for my bike. Looks like sunny day Sunday but afraid the track will still be sketchy on slicks
Barber drains very well. For this example, lets assume that it pours, then the sun comes out....an hour later, I expect the track will be mostly dry. If it pours Saturday morning, I'd expect it to be pretty darn dry by the afternoon. Likewise, if it pours Saturday night, I'd expect it to be mostly dry by the first session on Sunday. There are a few spots on the track that don't drain as well as others (Charlotte's web, for one....), but it all drains pretty good. Plus, the track is grippy and feels like sandpaper when you rub it. Plus the crews at barber are pretty good about giving the track a good blow-dry in the morning.
