Damn this is going to take awhile.... Several bolts stripped from the previous owners and stuck.. ... The two I am mainly concerned with are on the front head for the exhaust... I have dealt with those in the past and they are no fun... Also 3 out of 4 fender bolts and 2 caliper bolts stripped...I am scared to check the motor mounts,.
A little progress tonight..... I still have 5 stripped bolts to contend with but things are doing ok...
Took it for its first ride today....... I have a pulled muscle in my back.... I plan on getting the motor out tonight with a neighbors help lifting the frame off.... Then its time to clean some serious nasty parts....
Now time for some cleaning.... And Major Degreasing before Paint... Just need to take the swing arm off...
Got the Frame De Greased , Scuffed and ready for Paint..... I was able to finish the wheels... My Back is jacked up this weekend... I yanked some nerves or something... Progress will continue later in the week...
Nope just Duplicolor wheel paint with a few coats of clear.... I considered powder coating the wheels and frame but I need $$$$ for go fast parts... It is a TL after all...
Are you doing a penske rear shock or the F3 conversion? I went the F3 route (have to hack the frame a little) but need to get a heaver spring.
Penske with the Lindermans Link.... There are also a Few Wilburs on UKEbay I am looking at as well.... I'm not cutting the frame for a shock...
Marc, I'm loving this... I did my first track day on my TLR (01) back in 2010. I crashed it later on the street and sold it... Fast forward to 2014 and found a clean example (02) at a dealer 10 minutes down the road. Went and snagged it up because I regretted selling my first one. While it sounded incredible and had gobs of grunt, it just wasn't the same bike I remember. I truly believe it was that bike only and the TL's are just so fun... Can't wait to see this one at our events.. Maybe I can go for a spin??????????
I had a Penske on my last one and really liked it... Also the other bike I am getting in Chicago has one on it...
Dude! You gonna be my wheel painter from now on!! Nice ass job! I was thinking of PC'ing my wheels a different color (Gold like I've had before or red, or ???)
Just pick out a couple cans of Duplicolor... 1 can of Duplicolor Clear and bring them over.... Having the Tire Machine in the garage makes it very easy... Also unlike Powder coating you don't have to pull the bearings out as well...
