Mobil 1 and change it every 3 to 4 track days depending on the track and how hard I ride. Used to use amsoil but switched as Mobil 1 is easier to get and cheaper.
Motul 300v 10w40 Tried Amsoil and Silkolene in the past.. Transmission is smoother with Motul. Change every other weekend or so.
Does anybody have a single documented case of an engine failure caused by any oil that meets certifications? Pretty sure you could just pick your favorite color of bottle and call it good.
Castrol racing 4t full synthetic 10w-40... Seems good so far. No issues and is a lot cheaper than Mobil 1's full synthetic. I buy them buy the 6 pack on Amazon for about $45 which is good for two oil changes for me. Change it every 2-3 weekends.
I change it between every session at the track. Sometimes I pit a lap or two before checker just to be safe. I use a rare synthetic/mineral blend called GooberLube-9000 Max
I typically do the same thing, when not running the gooberlube-900 Max I run castrol, moible 1, motul 300v, KY, or Bacon lube.
One year I started changing mine even earlier... Down the front straight of Grattan is where my oil started the process without me... luckily none got on the track.
Amsoil. Why? I'm a dealer, so I get it at cost, making it the same price or cheaper than Mobil 1, Valvoline or Castrol. Change every couple trackdays or before a race weekend. Use the old oil in mower, truck, generator, etc.
WTF is it with people taking used Amsoil out of one engine and putting it in another? I dont care if you think it is slick enough to still be protective. It has been contaminated with fuel and combustion acids from the first engine. You are not doing yourself any favors.
Changing my oil every few days is a waste.. most the time with only a few hundred miles on an oil that is meant for thousands.. am I putting it in my truck no... my weedwacker and mower zero problems.. does great saves little bit of coin..
Motor did not blow, intake rocker arm broke from over rev, engine is in great shape, back together and running fine.
My point is If the oil not good enough to be used in one engine, it is not good enough for the other. The inverse would be true as well... I have had this discussion before and heard things like "the truck engine is bigger, so it is ok". Unfortunately, you bearing tolerances in the truck enginen are not bigger. On and on. If we were talking about a 2 stroke diesel from the 50's.....um...ok. Your truck, mower, etc. Do what you want. Good luck. I still think some oilnos better than none, New better than used, the correct grade better than incorrect.....
I do not know what kind of oil is in either of my bikes??? Todd, what did you use? People need to know for some survey!
I like Mobil 1 Racing 4T. It has "racing" right there in the name, so it should be more than good enough for track days. Also, the Advance Auto by my house keeps it on their shelf, so I can buy it at 8pm on a Friday when I remember I should probably change my oil.
