Picked up the bike last Friday. Paid a little more than I wanted but this bike had a lot of parts on it already.
Photos are of initial cleaning and bodywork strip to see where I was at build wise.
Plan is to build this as a track/race bike to run some vintage classes.

Love me some RC and TLR twins!!!

I am more partial to the RC though :) Can't wait to see the progress! I see you have the Ohlins forks, shock and kyle link. NICE!! the bike looks really clean! can you share some details? Looks like an SP2, what else is done to it? any motor work? miles?.. I know a guy here in GA that is a guru when it comes to SP's he has all kinds of parts.

Where do you all find these bikes? I wouldn't mind another project bike :)

+1 on having a build section. I would have posted more pics of my 748 build but I'm a retard and can't resize my pics! The build section should contain an "easy pic" feature, lol! Looks nice Aaron!

Yea it's an sp2. 16000 miles, thorston air box, brembo master and clutch, had sato high mounts but where damaged due to low side on street by previous owner, sato rear sets, power commander, Kyle clip-on's, brake lines etc. Stock motor made 131 hp and 71lbs when last tuned. I paid a little more than I wanted but the bike had some stuff on it that is hard to find now.
Bike wasn't really for sale. I posted a wanted ad on local forum and owner contacted me.

Oh goodie! Another build progress thread to follow! Always had a soft spot for the RC. Can't wait to see how she turns out.

Forks, Shock and Swingarm off. Going to send the forks and shock to 35motorsports . Swingarm will get refinished battery leaked and ruined the powder coat.

Still don't miss my rc51 yet. Well, miss the sound of it. Be sure to join the rc51 forums. Should be able to find parts on there.

I have only had it out at putnam for a couple sessions, but my first impression is it feels better than my gsxr 750 but overall it is slower. The riding position feels more compact and overall the bike has a more solid feel. It does get walked on the straights by the newer gen bikes.
My goal is to get comfortable with it this year and run some vintage races next year with along with racing my 750, probably with wera.
I'm racing my 750 this year with mcra so it will be slow process.

Nice scooter, she will grow on you. I have a mint 02 street RC in the garage. They are fun to ride, and they're getting harder to find. Good luck with it, keep us posted.

I had a 2001 RC51. Mostly on street but was also the first bike I raced with CRA and CCS. The thing about the RC is it doesn't FEEL like it's working hard but you look down and realize you're actually moving pretty fast. Would love to own one again some day.

Looks goods! Love the 'old' twins. I just picked up an 04 off Craigslist that needs a little TLC. Hopefully just some slip ons, fresh fluids, and shake it down next month.

Are those Danmoto slipons? Like them?
