I am selling my 2003 z1000 because I simply don't ride much anymore. The bike is in GREAT shape and has been impeccably maintained. I am pretty anal-retentive about mechanical maintenance, so the D.I.D. chain has been cleaned and lubed at least once every 300 or so miles, and the oil has been changed every 1,500 miles at a MAXIMUM. I have always used Amsoil with Honda filters due to their consistently high test ratings. The bike has 24,943 miles and has NEVER been stunted. I'm more of a curvy road kinda guy. I bought it with 10k on the clock in late 2006 in completely stock form. It's not a hyper-sport, track built machine like most bikes on this board, but will do track duty with aplomb as I've verified the few times I took it out on the track. It also gets around town more comfortably than most SS bikes. I am asking $4,900. Clean & clear title in hand. Bike is in Michigan but I am willing to drive & meet for delivery, within reason. The guy helping me, Thom, is the engine builder for AMA pro Taylor Knapp. If you check stats, his bikes are as fast as the factory guys so Thom knows how to do engines. I figured that I should take advantage of that resource, so in addition to dialing in the valve lash, we also did a light port/polish job, installed new valves, decked the head (increases compression), installed thinner head gasket (more increased compression), and checked bottom & top end to ensure everything was going to operate at 100%. The lack of wear on the engine was astonishing. So we put it back together and the thing pulls STRONG. Gets out of corners like that's its job. -100% custom exhaust I built in October 2008. Custom header, midpipe, and can. Truly one-of-a-kind, and sounds awesome (semi-crappy video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgm223Z2CWo&hd=1). -Integrated brake/signals in rear (uses stock brake light w/custom circuit-board). -2005 zx-6r front suspension sprung and setup for a 190lb. rider. It's setup a little firm b/c that's my preference. -2005 zx-10r rear shock setup same as front, w/custom dogbones to raise rear ~1½". The bike likes to turn in. -Replaced horrendous stock Kawasaki brakes with r1 forged calipers mated to r1 master cylinder & 2003 zx-12r rotors, which are 320mm instead of 300. These are, simply put, the best brakes you will feel short of a full-on Brembo setup. New Vesrah RJL pads installed 400 miles ago. HEL stainless lines (black jacket) also installed front & rear. -All plastic pieces blacked out, and I inlaid carbon fiber into the throttle body covers after powder-coating them black. -Renthal black Ultra-low bars w/Hyperpro RSC steering damper & Pazzo levers (black w/gold adjusters). -Valter Moto rearsets for operator, and I made custom rearsets for passenger to double as exhaust hanger. -zx-9r flywheel conversion which means I took off the ridiculously heavy z1000 flywheel and stator and installed a zx-9r flywheel with custom high output stator. This results in the engine revving much more quickly and feeling "snappier" overall. -Factory Pro shift star kit. This eliminates the notoriously "clunky" z1k shifting and makes it shift smooth, precise, and positive. Pain in the butt to install, but worth it. -EBC Superbike clutch kit with +10 springs. This results in a firmer lever pull (though not enough to notice) and better clutch engagement to eliminate slipping & prolong clutch life. -Power Commander III has a custom hindle map, but could probably benefit even more from a map created with some dyno time. I just haven't had the chance to do so. -Did the airbox mod with a K&N filter. -D.I.D. chain installed last season along with new stock drive sprocket and 43t (+1) Stealth rear sprocket. bump for an awesome custom bike, from a great seller and all around good guy. looks like someone is making room for a new project or a track bike upgrade. nick, you have to get back to the track we miss you on the track, and in the paddock. lynne says she needs her grattan tow truck, to get her into the 1:30's. good luck with the sale bro, i doubt it will last long. she is clean, mint, and WELL SORTED, fo shizzy. ski
