Hey guys, I am helping out a female co-worker who made the biggest mistake (although I do give the dude props for getting away with it imp: ) She financed her BF a bike.... it is a 2008 Ducati 1098S (black w/red frame) and it literally has under 1000 miles on it (900ish). Of course they are no longer together anymore and she is stuck with the bike and payment. She tells me it is clean but while trying to move it in her garage she laid it down and scratched the frame slider and a scuff on the plastic. Other than that it is almost new. She would like to get $13K for it but is open to offers as she does not know how to ride nor has use for it. $13K OBO. She knows she will take a hit and willing to negotiate to a point. Will offer $5000.00 cash bike is 6 yrs old now even with low miles it depreciates $2000.00 every yr. Not fiction but fact. Seen this scam often where the girlfriend put's up the dough, credit, financing and the dude hauls arse, sometimes w/bike & sometimes not. Really makes us look good ! She will have to take a hit on the bike and learn a tough lesson ! Had a female friend w/same situation tried to warn her but "She was in Love' ! BS. To this day the dude that did it is still doing it to women and has for the last 20 yrs. that I have known him. A real POS ! Anyway I feel bad for her but I do want the bike if feasible,I'll even bring up the price. All or most Duc owners always ask way too much. First they pay too much then time to sell ask way too much ! Duc's are now being produced by Indonesians over there. Yes the volume has increased and popularity too ! But the mystique of a hand made bike is over. Robotics do much of the work. Not like owning a Ferrari or Lambo. These vehicles hold their value and you may even pay more for a used one ! Supply & demand dictate the world market and it aint been exactly hot here in the US. Ducati sales are up in the US, but go to Cycle Trader and last I looked there were over 70 Diavels for sale ! An Italian V-Max with a big fat rear tyre and goes wonderfully in a straight line ! What is up w/that ? So I hope things work out for your lady friend, but do not forget me offer !
