Before I ask a new set of questions, I want to thank everyone for their feedback. This is a great forum that provides tons of info and has a great group.

Since my last question about a track bike I purchased a 09 CBR600RR instead of a SV650. I've had it on the track 7 days now, Infineon and Laguna. It now sits in my garage next to it's older brother, a 1994 CBR F2.

I'm taking it off the street and will make it a track only bike. Could I get a recommendation or two on the following:

    1. I'd like to replace the stock foot pegs. CRG or Vortex?
    2. I'm unsure if a steering damper will help me at this novice level? I'm running about 2:20 at Infineon.

Thanks in advance for any insights or thoughts.

We have run 3 track weekends (Tally, Kershaw, and Jennings) so far this fall/winter with our '08 RR. We are running the Vortex rearsets/clipon combo and rider is very comfortable with them. We are going to try the new 0 degree clipons for more tank/fairing clearance.
We are also running the OEM damper and have had absolutely no issues with it. It has done a fine job so far at expert race lap times. Rider is only 105#. JMO Tdub

Excellent! I'll check out that rearsets and damper. I weigh in at around 172#.

your 09 should have a damper on it from the factory.

use vortex pegs and clipons on my 08 600RR and love them both.
my stearing damp works just fine and im about the same weight. if it were up to me id save my money and get a new suspension. def work the money and it will make you WAY faster and more comfortable on the bike. just my 2cents

+1 on the suspension upgrade - the stock set I think is good for up to a 155-160lbs rider...maybe

    stock HESD should be fine....

and I use the vortex on that one's yournger sibling (03 600rr) and it's bigger cousin (08 1000rr) - love them

edit - forgot on the suspension bit...track springs are generally stiffer than street going ones and the above is street going for that weight - you get faster that front end is going to start wiggling around on you I bet under hard braking with the stock suspension

had ken from superbike tune my suspension last year and he said exactly what you said. the stock suspension is great for a rider around 150-175, but after that its not worth much. if you are gonna be in the track game for a while, and plan on getting better, go with the suspension upgrade. doesnt sound like much, but it alone will make you faster than all the other toys you can put on a bike.

sorry to hijack your thread but this kid is insane. it was his first time EVER on a 600 and he was killing it at little tally. granted it isnt the hardest track in the world, but the times dont lie! loved watching him run with the much older guys and girls. i heard he was 12 and just saw in ur post that he is 105# no wonder he is so fast :) Btw im just down the road from you in paducah kentucky

what's the reason for wanting new footpegs? cornering clearance? foot grip? badassedness?

the stock steering damper is below the steering damper and is fine. you should just keep that.
