I added explanations on the first post describing Limited Attendance, LED, and Pro School days.

Johnny Moto is a fun day for sure. It is run by Motoworks Chicago (Johnny's shop) so it's a bit of a different crowd for sure..... :D

Any chance you're planning another Dave Moss class this year?

this year the October barber event will be a led event. guessing to help the wera racers, planning on attending the gnf.

there wont be a novice class, and the other groups will probably be limited in size. so this will be a "smaller" event

with that said, it looks like the last Barber event (nov 7-8) will be the season ending shindig we "normally have"???

we are down for at least 2 trips to Barber from the north.

Marc, Trevor, you guys should look at the schedule, and try to make the ncm track, grattan, and then road America sweep. nice long, all bike vacation. :cheer: :wheel:

we owe you some northern hospitality. Ski

I will share the tactic that has always worked for me. If you divide the calendar year into quarters, you'll see STT rides about 3 quarters of the year. At the start of the year, I bought for the first quarter in up front. Halfway the first quarter, I would purchase the 2nd quarter, and halfway thru the 2nd Qtr, I would buy for the last. The dates you really need to watch out for filling up fast are those before it gets hot in the South (May) and October which you need to get in the middle of the Summer.

I did this because it allowed me to spread out the cost some (don't forget you'll need $$ for tires, lodging, gas, etc.).

Also, just because a date sells out, doesn't mean you should give up if you have your heart set on it - someone is always having to bail at the last moment and sell the slots, and even showing up waiting for the inevitable mechanical or crash-out is a valid tactic. Good luck you will have a blast!

I keep on checking in on the site to see if the store is open yet. I'm deployed overseas right now and wifi access is limited so I hope I don't miss any of the slots!

You'll be fine. Thank you for your service. P.S. With that Military ID of yours, STT is gracious enough to give you a pretty sizeable discount. Info on the website.

I have a general question. In general is Road Atlanta a less desirable track to say Barber? It always seems there are about 9 Barber events and only about 3 Road Atlanta. This is only my third full year of track days, and I generally can afford about 12 days a year anyway, so 3 at Road Atlanta, 3 at Barber and 3 at tally + 3 others mixed in works just fine for me. I was just wondering.

We have not had 3 weekends at Road Atlanta in quite some time... Usually only 2.. If there were more weekends available I am certain Richard would be on it.. However since Skip Barber moved in in 2011 they grabbed just about every weekend.. Panoz favors cars... Not bikes...

To answer your question they each have their Pros and Cons.. However the Management and Facitlities at Barber can't be touched by any other track.. just my opinion...

IMHO: Barber is a technical track with big hills, blind turns and is a blast to ride. It's also has the best facilities in the South and looks like a park. But it does not have any really long straights where you can air it out. RA has a 175 mph plus rear straight and some elevation changes also, but the facilities could use some improvements. Doing both expands your knowledge/skills, but if I could only do one or the other this year, I'd do Barber hands down.

To be completely honest - it just comes down to what the tracks are willing to rent us. Two weekends at Road Atlanta is ALL I can get....

If we talk about the other RA (north of the mason/dixon line - Road America) you can't even get a weekend there!

We are very lucky that Barber allows us to take the weekends we have.

There is a LOT of demand for the bigger tracks between car and motorcycle groups.....

First it is a laid back older group. These guys are loyal to Motoworks and the guys that come ride 30-50 k miles a year all over the globe.

Second there are a lot of, as Johnny would say, "bikes with soul". Sport tours, older cafes, etc.

Third if you have never done a day with Johnny he is selective, for he doesn't want to intermingle riders that have a different expectation than what is offered. It is geared toward new riders with 3 group format (A/I/N). However we call it novice, intermediate, and upper intermediate...generally in terms of group categories

Finally his days cost more. You do get a few benefits with it as well. You will need to call his shop directly to order. We don't handle the sales. We handle the operations

Oh one more thing...it is one of, if not the, most fun days we do.
