Hi guys, anybody have info on aftermarket shields?
I decided it would be a good idea to get a Shark helmet, but the shield is $80.

Dark smoke makes you look faster :pimp:, but not at $80..
Maybe I will just MS Paint all of my pictures from now on instead :jester:

just be careful on who you buy from, lots of cheap shields on ebay distort your vision. factory truely is the best option, they fit and are clear vision materials. you do get what you pay for. Ski

Yeah that's what I've been afraid of, especially with how thick the factory shield is.

And beware the fancy coatings as they leave a bright spot when nicked (unlike the standard tints)

when i first started riding street bikes i put an ebay mirror screen on my hjc helmet. the fogging, and distortion convinced me to take it off after a couple rides. IMO money saved on vision isn't a good investment.

I'm a scorpion helmet user, for the money, extra shields are worth the slight upgrade due to the " no fog " element. Worth the money when you try others in the same price range.

Agreed to not buy aftermarket shields on eBay. HOWEVER, there are a few "factory 2nd" distributors on there who sell shields with minor mold imperfections for much cheaper than MSRP. I got my Arai one from there and it's been great; there was a small nick at the top, that's all.

Ahh cool! Do you have a link to any of these distributors?

Good call! I carry a backup helmet in case I total my nice one while on the track. Until I could get a replacement/spare shield that would work for now.

I don't know of any particular sellers, but usually just typing in "(brand of helmet) shield factory 2nd" will give results. It might also depend on the brand as some might not sell their stock piles to 2nd distributors.

if you total a helmet on the track, i'm not sure if you should be going for a backup.
