Anyone planning on heading out to the AMA Supermoto (Detroit Supermoto) at Waterford Hills Race Course on Saturday July 8th? It was moved from The Palace this weekend due to some issues. I've never been out to Waterford Hills, but it sounds like they should have a pretty good track setup and tickets are less than $20. 8)

That's suprising, since they haven't let motorcycles run at Waterford for years due to noise levels & a lack of run-off in several places. There are a few places where there is guardrail or fence right off the edge of the track. Of course, they could just take them off track into the dirt there.

That's what I understood too.....I guess they did a sound check Sunday morning and got the thumbs up from a large crowd of car folks that were there. The promoter said there was only 1 very minor concern related to run-off with how they have the track set up. Should be interesting. 8)

I've did a track day in my car (well actually took my wifes car, oops) at Waterford last year, NO WAY would I ride a bike there, run off is almost non existant. I will still go out and watch though. I think we are supposed to go to a track day their in the cars July 9th, hmmm.

I'm guessing since the speeds would be much less than on a street bike and the fact that they'll be running on/off the track that they have minimized the issues w/ run-off. I'll see next Wednesday as I have volunteered to go out and help set-up the track. Hopefully there are no issues. It'd be nice to have a local event each year to go out to. :D

I think that I will have to take my little sis to that one. I took her to the freestyle event in January at the Palace and she loved it. I'm thinking that I might actually be rubbing off on her and we might have a future track day junkie.(In a few years......she's 15.) She actually told me the other day when I was at my moms that she had a dream she was training to roadrace(She probably watches too much of that stuff when I'm over) and crashed, but before that it was cool. So besides the wreck I would have to say that was a good dream.

Just a reminder....This Saturday for the 5th round of AMA Supermoto. 8) Practice starts at 10 with Qualifiers until 3, if I remember correctly. Finals should start thereafter.

I was out at the track yesterday helping set up and it looks like a great track. I think Waterford Hills is a good location for it. There's a nice dirt section, pavement w/ elevation change, urban jumps and a small flat-track section (at least they were working on it when I left.) I'll see tomorrow when I go back to ride it for a couple hours before the pros get there. :D

Well, I just went to the races with my little sis and my mom. It actually thought it was pretty cool. Too bad I didn't have a supermoto bike just to mess around with when they weren't racing. We all enjoyed it and it was fun though. I also saw a few STT faces up there and I even ran into a friend I was in Iraq with. Man it's a small world.

Wanted to go, but didn't make it. Silly home improvement projects are getting in the way of having fun.

Racer23 - You weren't kidding when you said whole bunch of pics! Some of those are pretty sweet, thanks for sharing. :D

Thank you!!! It was my first time shooting a 2-wheeled event and I had a blast!!!! I have raced at that track since '92 and was so pleased to see how everything turned out with the short notice that both Waterford Hillls and AMA had to work with.

I love supermoto!!!! what a blast

    Thanks
