Looking to make the annual trek out to the Beav, possibly with wife and baby. The Holiday Inn wants something like $125/night. Can anyone recommend another hotel that is clean and cheaper? Some of the hotels in that strip look a little sketchy. -Chris
Hey, it'll be good to see you, been awhile! I usually stay at at the Beaver Falls Motel (formerly Beaver Valley) right on Rt. 18. They're full as of now. And, yeah, the others along that strip...uh uh. Check in Cranberry. It's the exit before the exit for the track on the PA turnpike, so it's about 20 mins from the track. Lots of options there (Comfort Inn, Motel 6, Marriott, Holiday Inn Express and others), and plenty of restaurants also.
pitch a tent hunsicker!!! can't wait to see you and the family unit. don't forget to bring your mojo. 8)
Bring a little extra mojo for me, too... I'll either be pitching a tent or inflating a mattress in my trailer. The Holiday Inn isn't so bad- it's more or less an unrestored example of the early 80's "Holidome" concept. Vintage in every way, but much more up to date than the other places on the strip, for sure.
The best place to stay is in Cranberry, about 20 minutes east of the track. Motel 6. $39.95 a night for one person. Always tell them 1 person! You can stay 3 nights for under $200 and there are a buttload of restaurants, malls, whatever you need, it's there! www.motel6.com and search Cranberry. The location will be listed as Mars PA on Route 19. That's the one you want. Happy lodging
Thanks for the responses, everyone. It's all coming together, but unfortunately the wife and Kenny Roberts Junior Hunsicker will be staying at home. As good as our kid is, tenting with him at 7 months is hard to imagine, even for me. It's all good tho. Now if I can only get my bike back together...american made exhaust I got second hand from Germany...42T sprocket for my TZwheels (hard to find)...for some reason I've been running a 38! The joys of off-brand motorcycling...
