Treat them like cold tires on a cool spring day: take it easy for a lap or two and you'll be fine.

Just taking it easy is really the best way. If you are super worried about it, a scotchbrite pad works ok too, but still take it easy.

They are not nearly as bad anymore as they used to be. Dunlop mold release seemed to be especially greasy back in the day.

    Back in the Day . . .
I remember the entire Aprilia fleet sitting on tarmac with fresh Poo-rellis and Robert Pandya turning to me and my buddies, "Could you guys just take these out and scrub them in so we don't have any cold-tire crashes this morning?"

Out my two buddies went, pretty fast racers both of them were, a lurid black stripe affair ensued - they successfully took about 12 bikes out in one session and scrubbed them in.

Just be smooth and gradually bring the bike into deeper lean angles - but don't be anxious or tight. It won't take more than a couple laps - even on that ole FZR . . .

Sometimes I think we should cajole STT into bringin' out some really old tires, maybe some bias ply 591's so that rider could experience first hand how far we've come in tire technology in the past decade and a half. It would also make for some excellent "teaching opportunities."
