I asked in the general forum and was directed to the Eastern thread. Does STT in the East require a number on the bike? Mainly at Monticello. Ref: http://www.sttforum.com/sttforum/viewtopic.php?t=7144
The short answer is YES numbers are required. But dont fear you will not be turned away if your bike does not have a number you may be asked to purchase a 7 inch number decal (black or white)from the tire guy for a buck or two. Numbers help identify you to the corner workers.
Thats fine. But I wonder why it sounds like other divisions don't require it...basing that on the responses from my first thread in the general section. Hmmm?
Cant say why the other regions dont require them. I do know if you ride monticello you will be asked to put a number on your bike. A one digit # on the wind screen works fine. If you pick a number and its the same as someone else its ussualy not a problem as they may be in another group or have a diffent color motorcycle. Any number is better then none. again if you show up without one you will not be turned away, people are there to help out. Hope to see you out there. Kevin
?? bike numbers aren't required by STT maybe certain tracks require them...but I've never been to a trackday event by STT that required them.
OK, while we debate the merits of wether or not we need numbers on our motorcycles and whos to blame for not making this a universal rule like heath insurance, This guy builds a Lamborghini in his basement in preparation of doing some MMC events. Hey guys, don't mean to belabor this topic (I think Kevin covered it), but I just want to be sure- only a number on the front fairing/windscreen is required (no #s needed on tail section)? this can be any 1,2, or 3 digit number of our choosing? Thanks in advance for the clarification...I've got my first track day at Monti next month and I don't want to be unprepared.
When I started riding with STT, they had a list of available numbers. I selected a number and purchased nice stick-ons for a couple of dollars from one of the trackside vendors. I did notice earlier in this thread that one of the coaches said it would be OK to just show up with your own number. BTW, the trackside photographers use your number to organize their shots of you, making it really easy to find yourself among the thousands of photos shot that day. Jim B Green Hawk #909
I have seen where a TD org. would require a name on tape in lieu of a number...solely for identification. Tdub
I rode at Monticello on Apr. 26. and A number was required. Windscreen only was fine. I had an "11" in tape & that was good enough.
