These will be my 2nd/3rd trackday events (in novice obviously) - The only other track I've been to is mid-ohio. I was just curious if the guys/gals that have been there have any advice or things to be conscious of when riding at this track. Thanks, Aaron
That track is kinda rough, alot of patches. +1 on the sand. Take it slow to start with, last time i was there, there were 6 crashes in the 1st day.
Definitely a slick track with sand getting on it and tar snakes and patches. Lots of sand in the pits too, so bring something to park the bike on (like cardboard or plywood). It can be fun once you find your groove with it though
I've found it to be somewhat "slick" only in the first couple of sessions. Even the notorious turn 1 (sand) cleans up well as the day goes on. Other than turn one, grip is quite good on this track. You do have to pick your lines in the back section to avoid a little rough asphalt. If you've never been before... Here's a little sample: (not an expert sample, but a reasonable sample I think) 8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blixWkUlfyI [/url]
thanks for the vid. I can only do the Saturday session now but a day at the track is a day at the track...
*DO NOT TRAIL BREAK. *Sand in SEVERAL corners. *Watch out for the pavement. It has been patched in several areas and uneven. *It is a more of a "point and shoot" style of track. Difficult to get a smooth rythem. *Recommend you bring a generator or one hell of alot of extension cords. 8) *Tie your EZ-Up down and not with some little steaks. Use some weight. Windy *Ask the coaches to work with you. They have a ton of track time there. *You will NOT be able to set up pit on Friday.
Brain with Quick Turn Photo should be there. You can email him directly at www.quickturnphoto.com or brian@quickturnphoto.com
First time there I got a little spooked in turn 1. Later in the day came to really enjoy the track. Fun track! Yet I have to admit I enjoy them all.
Everyone have a great weekend there... Wish I could make it.... Watch out for Turkey Bones on the track around Kenny's Pit...
+1 on thanks for the video. I'm going down there this weekend from Chicago. I hope it warms up -- weather.com says highs in the low- to mid-50's.
