This came up on another board. Has any of the veteran STT coaches ever had a person come through tech with a stunt crash cage on a bike? Did you pass them? Would you pass them? If you haven't seen one before, they do clearly take away ground clearance from the motorcycle. At a Novice or slow intermediate pass the cage mite be OK, but if the cage hit the ground at a good clip while leaned over it would take the tires off of the ground faster than you could say "Oh Shit"!

So what do you guys think? Pass or No pass?

I'm not an STT tech but these don't look too bad... But, they might limit ground clearance in some situations... the same is the case for... center stands ...and older Monster and SS exhaust systems etc... I'm not sold on letting them through.

I have actually had a bike come thru tech w/ a modified stunt cage on it. It passed tech just fine. Since STT is not a race organization, we are able to relax a bit as compared to some race orgs. Safety of riders is paramount, followed by substandard equipment. Tech is primarily concerned w/ proper taping, potentially dangerous parts or sharp edges, adequate brakes and tires and any loose or leaking parts.

I know this is a potential hot topic debate, and i agree of the potential to scar the track, but luckily the track is very thick, and can handle it just fine w/ out altering the rideability.

I would have assumed that the cages fall under the rubric of "No Fur Allowed" as per the STT rules...

You'd have to call a medic, cause I would absolutely lose it if someone pulled up to tech with one of those.
