Read a post on Wera forum, wanted to find out how true it was. Post said the 8 bikes that wrecked on Saturday all had Dunlaps. So let's start the unofficial survey, if you wrecked at the Barber event last weekend, what tires were you using and what pressure?

Well, I didn't fall Saturday but Sunday instead....... I'll still play

Sunday on Dunlop KR449/KR451 slicks at 33f/23r hot pressure. But the session I fell had a red flag on lap one and we sat foe a few minutes waiting, so I think mine was cold tire and a reaction to a falling rider in front of me.....

I believe, as do many others, that the temperature of the track and general first TD of the year excitement was the primary cause of all the get offs.

I'm also starting to believe the pollen may have been a factor. Track and tires were completly covered in it. .??????? Track was rarely warm enough to keep heat in DOT's

That's a really good point that I hadn't thought of, thanks! I crashed on lap 2 of the first session (A group) and felt perplexed. I've been riding track for a year and a half and hadn't crashed, even in rain conditions until this day. I was riding at what I considered a slow pace to let the tires get some heat in them. I was not feeling the bike slide anywhere on the track. I cleared the apex of turn 4 (Charlotte's Web) at about 25mph and bam, the front went out, no slide first, just gone! I have ridden in some pretty slick conditions before and this really took me by surprise. I've been thinking about it a lot and this makes sense. When I left Sunday, my car was coated heavily with pollen but I never made the connection. Lesson learned, be even more conservative during the spring pollen season.

I think new leaf hit got it right in the third post...... No tire combination caused me to fall it was more an issue with a cold front tire and a reaction to a falling rider directly ahead of me that caused me to fall.

I wadded mine up in turn 17 on Saturday. I had a Q2 front and a Q3 rear. I wasn't even riding that hard and I still have no idea why the front let go..except...the front was a four year old tire which I first rode last fall...and there was pollen everywhere...

I rode Charlie's bike (THANK YOU) for the rest of the weekend on Q3's never felt anything loose...but I did ride CAREFULLY because it was not my bike...

I'll be at barber in 3 weeks with a fresh set of GPA Pros. I hope to not ruin my brand new prepped bike with fresh plastics and paint.

If I do, I'll just come home order the parts to fix it and pout alittle about it on Facebook.

What was the temps this weekend? Morning/afternoon? I think it's suppose to be mid 70s for the April 16-18 event.

Keith glad your ok, how bad is the damage to the bike?

It looks like Saturday 3/26/16 was high of 72, low of 46. Sunday was high of 70, low of 46.

    April 16: high 71 low: 57
    April 17: high 75 low: 57

Both days have possible R word. Hmm...

Look at this crash at the 7 min mark....

I calculated his laptimes at 1:48, 1:49, 1:47. AMA times being 1:27-1:30s. I'm curious how I do at this track but refuse to mount a lap timer until afternoon sessions on sunday, I'd perfer to not wreck like alot of people apparently did. I'm getting antsy to ride!

Seems like most wrecks happen in turn 2, 5, and 17.

    Here's a 1:30 lap time by a AMA rider.

If the riders were all on Dunlops, it was just a coincidence. Tires don't cause crashes. :)

Hard carcass longer to heat up! Crashes in first and second laps = rider error!

I crashed in turn 1 on Sunday. It was after waiting a few minutes on a red flag. Another ride also went down right after me. I think it was the same session that 3 went down in turn 17 and 2 went down in turn 5. It was a freaking mess. I was on Dunlop Ntec slicks but they were NOT the cause. Well, I'm sure they weren't up to temp on a cooler than normal track, but that's not the tires fault, but the retard who was riding it..... and now I'm paying for it....
