OK, so i ordered a steering damper for my SV from 58cycle.com. They sent my one that fits and SVS. So I called to get the right one, and was told that I had to "send pictures of the problem" and that then i could get store credit less a 20% restock fee. I explained that there is nothing to photograph since it was all still in the packaging and that NO, would not accept store credit or a restock fee for their error. This is the e-mail convo that ensued ( in reverse order, sorry)

So, yeah, I still have the wrong part, and called my credit card company to deny the charge. If this is indeed the right part, nobody can seem to tell me how to get it to fit between the brackets on my handlebars without buying clip-ons.

DO NOT buy from them. Their customer service SUCKS.

-This is what the correct one looks like. See how it fits between those 2 brackets?

This is the wrong one like what you sent me. The correct one is smaller than the one you sent me. See how it wouldn’t fit between the 2 brackets above?

The problem is that the item you sent me is for a SV650S, which has clip on handlebars. My bike is a SV650 with standard handlebars. Nothing is defective. It is just too wide to fit between the clamps on a stock SV650. Please process a return authorization for this part in full ASAP so I can try to get the right one by Friday.

That picture doesn't tell us anything about your problem with the fitment and why it does not fit on your bike. That pictures tells us that you got the correct part. We do not know what the problem is with the installation because you have not described anything to us and we have no pictures showing the issue. We have to contact GPR because it is there item and they would let us know if it was the wrong part or if something was defective. I'm sorry but we can not do anything with out this info. We will try to get this taken care of for you as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

    Ashley

It does not fit my 2002 SV650 because I still have stock handlebars and you guys sent me the one for the SV650S or one with clip-ons. I need it for a track day next weekend and do not have $$ to buy one from somewhere else.

I have not found any reason to shop anywhere but Sportbike Track Gear lately.

They can get just about anything (parts unlimited, tucker rocky, etc), they have great prices, great service, fast shipping, and if there is a problem they will make things right.

Email can be a terrible way to get something like this fixed.

If you haven't, you should call GPR at 619-661-0101 and talk to someone in customer support. According to the GPR website, there is a single part number for 2002 SV650 models, no naked/S distinction. The 58cycle website shows the same item for both the naked and S version. After getting the information you need from GPR, you should call 58cycle and talk to that Ashley woman directly. If she's not helpful, ask for her supervisor or the owner of the business.

I ordered some parts last year from 58cycle for my Ducati street bike, and one part that I ordered was on backorder for three or four months. Because I ordered online, my CC was charged immediately, not when the part came in. I ordered from them because they had the lowest price on the part I wanted. I wouldn't use them again, either, based on my experience with them.

58cycle should not be charging you a re-stocking fee because you did nothing wrong. I had a similar problem buying galfer wave rotors for my 2007 SV650S that I bought from STG of all places. It turned out that the distributor had bad information in their catalog. STG didn't even consider charging me a re-stocking fee. In fact, they sent me prepaid labels for the packages I had to return. That's customer service, in my opinion.

You were smart to challenge the charge to your CC. That is usually the fastest and easiest way to resolve a problem.

    Good luck!

STg was the first place I shopped of course, but they don't have what I need, at least not according to their website. I did try to call 58cycle a few times and was told I had to e-mail pics and was rerouted far to many times.

The other problem with this situation is that obviously this customer service representative doesn't know dick about bikes and doesn't ride.

    +100 on the STG store.

If it's not on the site, just give them a call & they can probably get it. If they can't exactly what you want for some reason, they'll probably be able to get something similar. If they can't do that, they're bound to know where you can get what you want. Everyone there does what we do, so they understand our needs. And they tend to test everything they sell beyond the limits of normal use.
