Rebuilding my forks here in the next few weeks. I've read before (on other forums) that upping or lowering fork oil weight can make a cheap but noticable difference in the performance of the forks. Unfortunately, i cant seem to find that article again.

Does anyone have any advice? Should i go with what the manual recommends or is now a good time to make a small change that could help out on the track?

Riding an 07 CBR600rr all stock fork internals. I weigh about 200lbs, and ride a fast novice/slow intermediate pace. If that helps?

Can someone help me understand this?

I had an 07 cbr with ohlins valving in the otherwise stock forks, so its not really relevant, but better than nothing maybe?

I could have used a little extra rebound adjustment. If I were to have kept it, I would have gone one weight up from what I put in (typical ohlins fluid, I think its like a 7.5w, but again that's with their valves)

Im about 160, and didn't need any more compression. You might want more range in that adjustment

soooooooo if I had to give you my best (still terrible) guess, Id say go 1 weight interval up from stock.
