I agree in a sense that they are quite a good peace of mind.
But, looking at what they are (which is not an overly precise item engineering wise) they really should cost that much. Materials aren't that costly, and there is no moving parts, and precision engineering isnt required.....just seems odd that they would cost so much for the name brands.
Either way, i have a set on the way.

    josh7owens What's an apex?

I have one on the brake side but not the clutch side. Hopefully I don't need it but if I ever do, it's there. I'll be doing some amateur roadracing later this season, I might need it there....

If you simply look at what it is, I agree with you in a sense. But knowing the guys at Woodcraft, there was a good bit of engineering that went into it. The end of it had to be in the appropriate location to prevent contact with the brake lever, but it also had to be designed in a manner that didn't inhibit or obstruct the "screwdriver grip" many of us use. Not to mention developing the mechanism to connect it to the clip-on. Then of course, there are the materials involved, the machines needed to fabricate/mold it, man-hours, etc.

It is easy to look at it and say "it is just a piece of plastic". But a lot of thought and design actually went into it. Then of course the equipment it takes to fabricate it. Then you have packaging, marketing etc.

It isn't that I disagree with you, I also think they are a little overpriced for no more that is to them. BUT, I also think about, what if I wanted to make one? I don't have the degree, equipment, time, etc to fabricate one personally.

Thanks for all your inputs. It's going to be the next thing I buy for my bike before I take it to the track for the first time this year. Hope I'll never have to use it but I'd rather have it just in case

+1 for the guys at Woodcraft. I love their stuff. Case covers, rear-sets, clip ons....
