Hey guys. I finally bought a dedicated track bike, a well prepped 04 gsxr 600. Sadly, said GSXR does not have a kick stand, which is fine because I have a Pit Bull rear stand for it. However, I find removing the stand, trying to slide the stand out of the way, and hoping onto the bike, to be rather cumbersome, let alone putting it back on the stand without it falling over on me. My question is, would it be worth it to pick up a free standing front wheel chock for the track? Or should I just stick with my rear stand?

Well if you are not going to run tire warmers, a Baxley chock is great for what you want. If you do get to running warmers, you will need the rear stand and front stand, so you may want to continue with your current rear stand. it just takes practice. So easy movements at first to get used to it. It will become 2nd nature after awhile.

I'm in the same "no stand" situation. I use a Baxley chock to hold the bike when I first get back to the pit. Gives me the chance to get my helmet and gloves off and grab some water before I deal with putting the bike up on stands.

This is track days, not racing, where ever ounce of weight counts. Check ebay, buy a used side stand and put it on. Pull into your paddock area, put the sidestand down, then go get your rear stand if you need it. You can probably find a used sidestand on ebay for under $20.....stand, spring, bolt and nut.

Took a few times practicing before I got comfortable putting the bike on the rear stand by myself. Usually just stand on the left side holding the seat with the left hand and then lining up the rearstand to the spools then lift. The streetbike I usually take the rear seat off to hold the bracing while putting the rear stand under it.

I don't run tire warmers and have tried both and prefer the chock, much easier than fumbling around when you're overheated in full leathers. Tire warmers change everything though.
