I decided to give the whole track day thing a try this year. Bought a bike last fall, along with a new helmet, boots, gloves, and Knox back protector and chest protector. The last piece of the puzzle is a suit. Is there anywhere close to WI that I can go to browse and try some different suits on? I'm looking at Alpinestars and Dainese but there's quite a few different models of each.

I'm 6' and about 145 lbs. Looking to spend about $1500.

Any recommendations from those more knowledgeable than me?

Can't help ya on anything local to you in WI, but if you have questions on suits, sizing, etc. give the folks over at Sportbike Track Gear a call in metro Detroit. They're full of info and very helpful with a lot of products and good prices!

With $1500.00 you are looking on a high end class suit. Call sportbike track gear they will guide you through out the whole experience of getting a new suit for a new track warrior!

Never having owned a suit I am not sure what I am looking at as far as fit to be sure what I order ends up being the right size. Also any thoughts on Alpinestars vs Dainese?

You can consider a full custom suit too. I still like my SYED leathers. I think now they are around $1300 built to your measurments, color scheme, etc.

I have no experience with the RS Taichi suits, but many people speak highly of them compared to the Alpinestars and Dainese. I'd be giving them a look if I were in the market too.

    astars

my opinion is a stars all the way, call STG for that kind of money you can get an insane suit. You can hook up a great astars suit for far less than that and you may want to put the extra cash towards great back and chest protector (i would recommend knox) and that stuff isnt to cheap but you 100% want to have it. Just my 2 cents. welcome and see you at the track.

Motorider in Kenosha is the only shop I know of that actually stocks various sizes of leathers, helmets and boots that are from a few price groups. Of course anybody can order you something, but it's cool to try stuff on, they walk out with it knowing it fits.

Bruce is a very helpful and if you call first you can check to see what they have in stock. I took a friend down to get some affordable boots and gloves, then he started trying on everything they had. He left with a pretty good deal on A*'s supertech's even though he was warned not to put them on if he really wanted the entry level boot. Fit and comfort is just too nice to want to go with anything else. And he gat a set of GP pro gloves. Of course there is much more entry level stuff there in stock too.

There's a Dainese store on the NW side of Chicago. I was in their store last year, they had more than just Dainese suits.

Good idea.... honestly, there are suits out there that don't cost 1500 and will give you the same protection. STG has some awesome deals on suits if I understood their Cowboy video.. LOL
