I'm signed up for Gingerman Aug 11-12th. This will be my first time at Gingerman and also my first time doing 2 days in a row. Two logistical questions:

    1. Can/should I leave my uhaul trailer and bike at the track overnight between the 2 days? I don't imagine there's an issue with theft or anything, but is it frowned-upon to leave things unattended?
    2. If I can leave the trailer and bike there overnight, could I drop it off on Friday evening when I get in town?

Normally not a problem to drop off night before and leave overnight. there is a trackday on Friday as well with Vet2track.org and a chilli cook off that night.normally make friends with people nearby let them know your leaving it and someone will help keep and eye on it.

Ok good to know. Any idea if Gingerman would charge me the gate entry free for dropping off on Friday evening? Not a deal-breaker, but good to know how much cash I should bring.

Well, if it depends on my charming personality to win over the gate worker, I'll bring an extra $5.

    :D

For what it's worth (maybe not much because I'm also a noob)....
I tried this with a Uhaul when I did my first weekend at Gingerman a couple months ago.....planned to detach, go into town, etc etc.
I didn't anticipate how hard it was to detach the Uhaul with any kind of weight in it and uneven ground. I couldn't get the trailer to release off the hitch ball because of the tension. The Uhaul trailers I've rented recently didn't have any kind of tongue jack, and they are fairly heavy on their own so it was a struggle.

After about 30 frustrating minutes, I gave up and just left it attached haha. But it worked out anyway, as hanging out at the track was a good time Fri night!

NOTE: I was able to remove it myself when I returned the trailer, but the ground was perfectly level and the trailer was empty...it still took a couple big heaves to get it to release.

Just FYI so you are prepared! :)

Hanging out at the track is always a good time. Great way to get to know your fellow riders.

Thanks for the tips. As it turns out, some friends of mine will be coming and they have extra space in their vans/trailers for my bike, so no U-haul this time. I'm thinking I'll end up camping too, so this will greatly simplify things.
