I will be doing my first GingerMan track day this coming Sunday 08/20 and was wondering if any of you guys/gals have any suggestion on a good place to stay. Thanks Frenchie
There are several hotels to choose from ( Hampton Inn, Holiday Express, etc and many local ones ) but I called this week and the avg rate is $110/ night  If you are up for it, I would suggest camping at the track. ( that's what I typically do anyway ) They have great facilities and for $10/night ( or close to that ) it's a deal. I think they have food service there still and the food isn't bad.
You can never go wrong with camping at the track. That's a GREAT way to meet new people!! (Also save's some valuable money.)
I should be there mid afternoon on Saturday to check things out and I will be camping so look forward on meeting some of you. Frenchie #24
Same here, I'll be thier mid saturday afternoon. Look for a red colorado with a yellow 919 in the back.... Look forward to meeting all of you!!!!
FYI Gingerman has 2 restrooms & showers. One near the gate w/ prison style showers and one near the concession stand w/ single bay showers around back. Both are always clean. The concession stand opens pretty early and sells breakfast food. Due to the high cost of hotel rooms in the area most of the STT staff either camps or motorhomes at the track.
Well that answered my question - I wasn't sure if the track was letting folks in tonight or not.... You'll see me up there too Silver 900ss/cr - Who's bringing the beer ??? ( To drink in moderation mind you.... )
Now, how did you knew they are prison style showers? Hmmmm Now, what kind of car/truck you are driving? I'll make sure I'm not camping next to you.... J/K  I'll be with a silver Nissan Armada, full trailer, and my blue r6.
The showers near the front gate are "PRISON STYLE". The ones near the Concession stand are private stalls ....
So who had a good time ? dumb question . Was the food Auwsome or what ! I was only there on Sunday ,Weather was perfect . Got some new PR2/PR5 combo and didnt slip once all day .
Well, I would have to say that I had a good time. I finally got back on the track, this time WITHOUT my camera and back on my 2003 R6, for the first time in a little over 3 years. I got to ride 1 1/2 sessions on Friday and 2 sessions on Saturday. Amazing how it came back to me so quickly ......
Hey it's good to hear that you got to play for once Joe. Lord know's I always see you on some corner taking a photo somewhere. My weekend was pretty good except for a rookie blunder on Saturday afternoon. I missed a gear going into T1 and didn't have enough engine braking to pull me through right. I tried to save it by trail braking to a point and giving it some gas as I let off, but I ended up lowsiding anyway. I cracked my clutch cover and was leaking oil.(None on the track, thank god.) I ended up draining the oil, cleaning the clutch cover with brake cleaner and JB welding it for Sunday. It worked!!!! I'm always going to keep that stuff around now.(Hopefully no more CRASHES FOR A WHILE NOW!!!!!!) On Saturday morning I felt good in the rain though and when it was dry and I started going faster on Sunday it's started getting trickier trying to get a good line around those sealer lines and through the double apex. A couple instructors showed me a line (Frenchies helped ALOT....Thanks!) On the last session when they did the Intermediate A and B combines I took it easy behind a two stroke for a couple of laps(No offense to the 2 strokes  ) to really concentrate on my lines and relax and then I had a blast with a track with no one in the way and I went faster than I did all weekend. It felt so much smoother, faster, and natural when my lines were consitant. When I left I had a Perma-Grin. Kind of like this . So despite crashing.........Again I still had a great time and learned even more. It's nice learning something new everytime, because the more you learn the more fun you have.
